Swedish international Andreas Jakobsson of Hansa Rostock has signed to join danish top team Brøndby. Jakobsson, voted second best Bundesliga defender 2002 by Kicker (if my memory serves me right), says he looks forward to playing Champion's League or at least UEFA Cup later this year. This also means that Hansa next season no longer can field 6 swedish players at the same time, as they did against Leverkusen. Oh well, five is almost as fun.
Do you have a link? I didn't find a German site mentioning that. Jakobsson was very good last season, but had problems in the current. Marcus Lantz is also thinking about leaving after the season, he'd be a much bigger loss in his current shape (entered kicker's Team of the Day this time). Peter Wibran's contract is expiring as well, but he'll probably sign a new contract although his standing in the team is rather the one of the 12th player. Magnus Arvidsson has contract for a further season, but rather is forward no. 3 or 4, he'll have to fight for an extension next time. The new ones, Joakim Persson and Rade Prica have some time left (2005, 2006) - Persson is still having problems to find a secure spot in the team, while Prica had lots of problems at the beginning but then had kind of his breakthrough at the end of the first season half with his six goals (is now sitting out a red suspension)
I just got it from the sport news on danish television. It's on the danish newspaper websites (www.bt.dk, www.eb.dk), I haven't had time to check any other sites. Brøndby's manager Michael Laudrup says already has good defenders, but Jakobsson's routine and international experience will be a welcome addition.
I found the articles, I also get the main content - but does it say that the contract is already signed or are they just interested? (as I didn't read about the length of the contract)
Ekstrabladet says contract is for 2 years and 6 months, starting July 1st 2003, so I presume they've signed.
