a 92' midfielder who plays for SG Rot-Weiss Frankfurt. A team in the Hessenliga(V). Good news= he is young, 90 minute starter, and is starting to rack up offensive stats. Bad news= his team is near the bottom of the league. http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/andre-thomas/leistungsdaten/spieler_94748.html
I've had this gone on my list for at least four seasons hoping to confirm that he's American... Past clubs include FSV Mainz and SV Waldhof Mannheim.
I'm familiar with both of these names, but I haven't been able to confirm that either one is American beyond that it says so on various database sites. Those sites are very useful, but they are also incorrect frequently enough that I don't trust their information fully. More pertinent to your question, I believe I've contacted clubs for both Lundy (he has at times been listed with a completely different last name I can't remember offhand) and unfortunately have not heard back. So ... anything's possible.
Can now say with some certainty that Thomas is a Yank. He was teammates with Yanks Patrick Barnes and Jeremy Rochel Lundy at R-W Frankfurt this past season.
I see Barnes is on the big list, but it doesn't appear Lundy is. Is he confirmed as a Yank, or should we toss his name out on your new detective work thread, Dave?
Since the season is over, I guess it's a moot point -- we can find him and add him for the summer update.
Here's an interesting move: Andre is now listed as a junior on Virginia Tech's roster. http://www.hokiesports.com/msoccer/players/thomas_andré.html Evidently he's a '93 (Transfermarkt has it as '92) born in Louisiana. I guess I don't know which birth year is right.
Lundy makes it as clear as he can he's American on his Facebook, by, among other things, joining a group called "I'm Proud to Be an American" and using a bald eagle with the stars & stripes superimposed on its face as his background- https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.r.lundy The bad news is it's unclear if he's played since 2011- http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/jeremy-rochel-lundy/leistungsdaten-detail/spieler_121173.html
Thomas missed (and redshirted) his sophomore year at VT due to injury. Just figured I'd mention since he's an interesting test-case as an American-born, foreign-raised guy with high-level European academy training who is back in college ball.
For the record, Thomas is now playing his (redshirt) senior season at VT, where he's one of the key players. (A former U17 named Alessandro Mion is also a RS-Sr. on that squad.) Will be interesting to see what he does after graduation.
Looks like he is working an honest living outside of pro soccer and, I assume, crushing Saturday leagues if/when he feels like it.
