Andre Dozzell in England?

Those of you who haven't been following intently while @Balerion and I ruin the Michael Harding thread with trivia...

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/michael-harding-at-northampton-town.2107695/

... may have missed that it reminded me that I (and maybe others) have in the past said that Jason Dozzell, who had an interesting playing career you can look up, had an American parent. That perhaps makes it worth noting that he has a son, Andre, who is a '99 at Ipswich Town, playing for the first team (currently in the third division) and who has a long BYNT resume.

Is this worth a thread? It's YA! Everything's worth a thread!

Oh, and while we are talking trivia, Jason scored in his ITFC debut at 16. So did his son. So that's pretty cool.

As I think about this now I can't help but wonder whether my YA archives are hiding a treasure trove of kids of random retired Euromerican players I haven't thought about in years...

Of course, I need to stick in the caveat that a player with an American grandparent is unlikely to be a US citizen unless he ends up living in the US for some period of time or he goes through a special process that has to be completed by the time he turns 18.

Of course! I also don't know if Jason ever acquired a U.S. passport. After a decent chunk of online digging last night the best I could find about his family is that his mother is named "Frances" and he's related to a guy who was on "Big Brother" in the UK. Not much to go on...

Here, for what it's worth, is a feature from September:

“I’m very ambitious and one day I want to be playing in the Premier League. That is one of my dreams for the future, but for now all I want to do is win promotion this season for Ipswich.

“They are my club and I’ve been here since I was eight. It would be a dream come true to get promoted and that’s what we have set out to do this season.

Someone named Emille Dozell commented on this video and said that Andre is USMNT eligible. Andre has a younger brother with that name, so it’s probably him.

This is some pretty varsity-level Soccer Internet right here, and I should know. Kudos!

He might move up a level by staying with Ipswich Town. They are now in 7th and have a game in hand on most of the clubs above them. Automatic promotion would be tough, but the promotion playoffs are certainly possible. Town has been winning lately despite considerable outside turbulence. There are rumors of an American takeover, Paul Lambert got sacked, and Paul Cook almost immediately came in as the new manager.

A well-placed source informs me that while Andre doesn't currently have a U.S. passport, he is believed to be eligible for one. I don't have further details.

Here's to hoping they aren't relying on Jason's American parent for citizenship. Many a potential Yank has been disappointed after visiting the consulate.

Hey, I just stumbled upon this thread. I confirmed with one of the Dozzell boys a while back that their only connection to the United States is through their American grandfather who was born in the US and ran track at San Diego High School. He moved back to the states after briefly living in England.

Maybe there would've been a chance at eligibility for Andre if he completed the special citizenship program before he turned 18, as mentioned previously by @BostonRed .
