Not sure if this was posted yet, but he wants to play in MLS,so i was wondering who has available cap room and wants him the most, in your opinions "The place I probably know best is D.C.," said Anderton, noting how Tottenham has traveled across the Pond to take on United in friendlies a few times in recent years. "I would presume that that would be the best thing for me. New York, of course, would be a nice place to play. It all varies, club to club." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=301320&cc=5901
Part of his injury problems at spurs stems from the fact that english sports medicine is still in the medevil times compared to our country. Did anybody see that article in the mirror where klinsman said that the english coaches and trainers don't know sh!+ about health. I am sure that his injuries would help if he was here. Hell if we can keep cobi going...... That is one of the reason's Reyna had sucha full year at Citeh because their physio was an american....we just know more. Anderton would be an all star here.
Dude. That's awesome!!! He would fit perfectly in Colorado with the rest of the international invalids!!!!!!! BRING HIM ON!!!!!
way to call the achilles tendon the ACL ( and the neck bone is connected to the anklebone?...)...you should see Troy tonight. We can fill you in tomorrow. HE HE sorry, couldn't help meself!
Just like Herzog is nowhere next year or the next, so Anderton MAY play well for a year, then zip. Completely not worth it. Let's face it, the best MLS can hope for is to become THE league for young US, Caribbean and Central American talent to be bought by Europe. That would actually serve a purpose. I would be thrilled if it were looked upon as a hot market for top talent every summer. But as a retirment league....just say NEIN, which should've been said to Lothar in the first place.
I'd love to see how the league will manipulate things to get Sicknote onto the DC roster (note: I didn't say "play"). Am I the only one who hates this guy? He's Hugh Grant in a soccer uniform.
Keller probably will play a couple more years in Europe, but I'd love to see him come back. It doesn't seem much different then the NASL - Pele, Beckenbauer and the rest all came here at the end of their careers. I just hope if we bring the old folks over it's some players who are going to bring the fans to the games.
Except it's not, physiotherapy and sport science in general are very important over here thanks and has been for the last 10 years or so. Anderton will do a job for someone, somewhere. He's still a good player.
I don't think comparing Anderton to Herzog is a very good argument against signing Anderton. Herzog has been one of the better midfielders in the league all year. His probably with getting a team to give him a chance this year will be the cap. A team would either need to cut someone expensive who's not healthy or not fitting in, or a team would need to receive a quick exemption because they lost a player. With rosters as they currently stand, I can see teams that could use him, but not necessarily anyone who wants to make enough changes.
As I understand it, it is still common practice for players to warm up, sit for a talk and jump into shooting drills. So get the muscles warm, cool em dow and them reclessly snap them, hardly seems good practice. I am sure that I was incorrect to say that physiotherapy is so behind there. Perhaps the issue is that your teams insist on hiring coaches who were players and not very often trained in physio and the like. ie, keegan, hoddle...shall the list go on?
I'd be surprised if that was the case with the emphasis these days on doing things right. Warming up and warming down is very important and I really doubt any manager in this day and age would allow such a vital part of a players wellbeing to be ignored. Managers are not the only coaches at clubs. I seriously doubt the manager would take the team for the warm up that would be in the hands of the coaches he employs (who have to have recognised FA and UEFA qualifications). Some players (like Darren Anderton, Paul Warhurst) are just prone to injuries, nothing can prevent that.
The man has made 384 appearances for Spurs over 12 years. That's exactly 32 a year. I'm no expert on the EPL, but that sounds like a reasonable record to me. Unless that breaks down to 320 the first 8 years, and 64 the last 4.
Cross off the Crew as a possible destination. Dwight Burgess the Crew PBP announcer, says they are looking at a particular player for an allocation but that it's not Anderton.
Well, from all the reports I have gotten from people, some coaches, ie Keegan, have not stepped into the mold of doing things right. I think the truth is somewhere in between. He is prone and I think being here will help him.
