Kane and the fullbacks rested. Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies. Dier, Dembele. Lamela, Eriksen, Townsend, Clinton
lamella scores, but disallowed as offside. giving the ball away a lot. very vulnerable on set pieces. we're trying, though. we're getting closer to 'likable', to my eyes.
lamela shoulda done better in the early minutes , was in on goal all alone & put it right at the keeper. also eriksens first shot attempt, I think if he lays it off to whoever was running to his left its an easy goal. spurs really could have had 3 or 4 early. finishing precision needed
From what I've seen of Trippier so far this season, he's not much defensively and hasn't contributed much in the way of crosses.
So many teachable moments from this game that I can't help but think that the Anderlecht players fit Poch's ideal system to a T. They move the ball forward very quickly such that there aren't any wasted passes. When they don't have the ball, they press high up the pitch as a team and prevent you from playing down the middle. It helps that they actually have these mythical beasts called "wingers" and "in form centre forwards" but still, hats off to them. Their adjustments beat our adjustments....or lack there of.
Not enough bite in our attack... No striker depth (who do we blame for that?). Kane's confidence is in jeopardy and he can't do it all or be expected to repeat last season's performance. We need Son back soon and the midfield has to step it up.
I only saw the last 30 minutes, but it was disappointing to see a fairly strong lineup lose. I don't see Trippier displacing Walker any time soon.
