I think he had a ruptured Achilles tendon injury and surgery to repair and that had impacted his form afterwards. Having said that he's had some good performances for Forest.
at Chelsea, this is actually a punishment ..... Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez is set to be appointed one of Chelsea's vice-captains despite upsetting some of his team-mates by singing a derogatory song about black players.
Chelsea reach agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Pedro Neto. Fee €60m + €3m addons. 24yo Portugal international winger set to undergo medical soon before completing transfer from Wolves (Ornstein)
LOL! For at least several reasons. (he is an excellent player for the 3 months a year he is available)
As a coach if I was looking at the player I'm judging what he can do on the pitch and in that regard I'd rate Neto really high. He's a top top talent. As for the injury issues that's up to the medical staff to green light or not. Chelsea have got themselves a very good player and if they keep him fit he'll improve them .
maybe - but 11 goals in 111 PL appearances doesn't do it for me. Good player - but nor sure he's going to change much for Chelsea.
Neto is an exciting player but his end product is average. It’s hypocrisy to say Nunez or Gakpo should go and on the other hand argue to sign Neto, especially bearing in mind the dude is only available half the time. Chelsea are just signing who they want, there’s no logic or planning behind any of it. We saw the same spree under Poch and Potter, what happened next? They’ve gone backwards under Boehly. All well and good for their internet fans because who doesn’t love a new signing, but what really matters is where you finish and what you’ve won come May.
He's definitely not going to score with Salah type numbers but what's impressed me watching him is how he controls the game when he's out there . Most of Wolves attacks would involve him and with better players around him I'd expect better numbers. How much he'll improve Chelsea ? Who knows ? Changing managers every year , seemingly signing dozens of players every year they've not found a stable set up to build on so far.
If I asked you to name all the players Chelsea have signed since the takeover, I guarantee you'd miss half out. That's Chelsea.
Not sure why I'd need to know that but I'd miss more than half same that would go for most prem league clubs signings . Here's some of them. Chelsea players warming up next season pic.twitter.com/Yp9Nub6RUl— Footy Humour (@FootyHumour) August 9, 2024
Neto is a great player, an absolute menace. The only downside is his fitness, seemingly breaking down every six weeks.
Signing Neto wouldn't make sense for us. Fitness issues are already a problem and he's a guy who can't stay healthy as it is. The fitness and availability side of the season will be interesting - are Slot's methods more conducive to keeping players fit and healthy?
That’s a good question. I think our conditioning was not up to scratch and most of our players never stayed for for long enough.
Brilliant. for everyone else. Soon he will be able to recreate his Ajax team in full and then he'll show everyone that he's a great manager.
Gotta say that Bayern seems to be recovering some funds from some pretty disastrous transfers. I’d include Gravernberch in those transfers as he just didn’t fit. What has happened to de Ligt, though?
Also from Bayern according to Ornstein , Noussair Mazraoui to sign for 20 million euros including add-ons. I think he's a fb but never heard of him before. So a busy summer for Utd under their new owners . After completing the signings of Yoro and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee for a combined £88m, Man Utd have reportedly agreed deals to sign De Ligt and Mazraoui for 70 million euros (£60m) in total.
Yeah , he was the hottest property on the market at one time and now at 25 he's onto his fourth club.
Both Juventus and Bayern took (have taken) massive hits on their original outlays, haven’t they? Maybe that initial move to Italy was a tad premature. I quite liked him alongside de Jong and van de Beek when they were at Amsterdam .
