At this point I'm hoping for Potter or Levy to say F it and pay for Poch. But I'll settle for Parker.
The Daily Express is reporting we are down to Nuno and Potter. At this point, I would be happy with Harry Potter.
We could do worse than either of those two. But this has become like a player signing. Until I see confirmation from the club, itself, I'm not believing anything.
And then there was Nuno... https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ing-nuno-espirito-santo-as-their-next-manager
I'd have him. Apparently, however, 'no to Nuno' is trending on twitter. You knew this would happen as soon as 'fan reaction' was given as the reason for dropping interest in Gattuso. Pinheads will bitch and cry over anyone who isn't miles beyond what we can get at the moment. Eff 'em. Get him in, Daniel. Criminy, in a Summer of stupidity, f*cking off Fonseca for a dither with Gattuso has to rank above the rest for near-criminal asininity.
Trying to get Lopetegui (sp?) shows how delusional Levy is. The guy has just managed his team into the champions league. "Come to Tottenham! We finished seventh, we are in the conference league (or whatever it is), and our best player wants to leave. But we are a big club!" Obviously the guy is going to want to stay put. Spurs is not anyone's dream destination.
To be fair, all of this drama smacks of the time when Spurs were in for Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, etc. It's all sensationalism with likely very few serious options on the table.
I know Daniel Levy said he would have a manager in place by the start of the season, he just never specified which season...
It's Nuno. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2021/june/nuno-espirito-santo-appointed-new-head-coach/
I’m content with Nuno. Wolverhampton played some good looking football and overachieved relative to their budget. It’s the inevitable Pochettino move after a splashy but inevitably disappointing "big name". I give him three seasons where he gets us in the Champions League twice, Levy fails to invest to take the next step and sacks Nuno to hire whatever discarded Chelsea manager just became available.
Nuno is done and he seems to be saying all the right things. I'm fine with the hiring, honestly if he was hired in May nobody would be that negative towards it. If Levy and Patricia move the dead weight out and let Nuno use the youth plus a few signings and I think he will be very good for us.
I'm not at all displeased. I didn't much enjoy the circus, of course, but (as stated above) I'd've taken him at season's end with enthusiasm. To my mind, the specter of failure hangs less over this hiring than would have Conte or Poch, no matter how much higher their profiles (in fact, probably because of it). I'd take that. In a heartbeat. Winning a pot or two would be better, though.
There's a link here, though I'm utterly unable to articulate it. But I'm suddenly very excited about Tottenham Hotspur. Perhaps it's down to the unnatural disheartening of the shambolic process - simply that it's over - that's allowing Spurs to take their rightful place amongst my summertime interests. I mean, I don't for a second think Nuno's going to be a miracle worker or anything. But two days ago I couldn't think of Spurs without wincing. Now I'm COYS!, and all that. The sun's peeking through that months-old cloud bank.
