I like our chances here. But on the road, anything can happen. anyone know how they determine which team gets the match in their stadium?

First team drawn gets to play at home. Portsmouth will host the match.

I'm glad that Portsmouth will be next, rather than Liverpool. Even though Liverpool haven't looked that good this year, they are still the better team and with Owen in the lineup, they are always dangerous.

I wasn't sure who i wanted Arsenal to play. Liverpool is dangerous, but I seem to remember us having trouble with Pompey at home earlier this year.

Yeah. but that was way back in the early part of the season (our 4th game) and reading the match report, they went up 1-0 and then Thierry scored 5 minutes before half on a PK just before the half. Then we apparently had their backs to the wall the entire 2nd half but couldn't put the ball in the net.

The way the team is playing, they're hot right now and have the confidence that they can beat anyone anywhere. But this will be a big match for Pompey and their fans; they'll be up for it.

the pen that henry scored was from a foul on pires. which it has been agrued was a dive, i am a arsenal supporter through and through but still we were lucky to get the penalty call. we did press the rest of the match after drawing tho. so we were unlucky.

Liverpool definitely did not play well today and did not deserve a result, but was anyone else who watched this match impressed with Gerrard? It seemed like he was the only Pool player that cared and was all over the pitch. He sent Heskey in on goal with a perfectly weighted little through ball. Also, I love the way he hits his corner and free kicks with pace and swerve.
    Just wondering what others thought?

How can that be? They've got to change the date of one of those games so that we play them twice in a row at least!

Gerard really has played well the last several matches. He was all over the pitch carrying the team. I was very happy that Portsmouth won because it will be an easier game to put away, even though Arsenal has a good recent record with Liverpool. I keep thinking everytime I see Owen play for Liverpool that he would be so much better elsewhere. I think some of his better qualities as a player are not taken advantage of with the way Liverpool plays. After seeing him destroy Germany I know he is a great player, but I do not see it with Liverpool. I was at the FA Cup game two years ago when Liverpool played Arsenal. Even then you could see a difference in class emerging between Henry and Owen. Now Owen cannot even be compared to Henry.

I agree, although when they brought Danny Murphy in, he seemed to give some energy. What was the deal with Owen's penalty effort? It was not struck hard nor did he do the stop-step that seems to be in vogue now to get Hislop to commit.

Even though the next match is away, I'm not too worried. By my count, Portsmouth created exactly three good scoring opportunities and converted one; and while Liverpool played somewhat indifferently, they still created more and better chances. I think we'll win by two goals.

We should beat Pompey and then it is looking like a Man Utd v. Arsenal sem or final!!! If we meet in the final it will be nuts!!!

I'm Fulham or someone else does the job though before we have to face them.
