Landon Donovan has played his final MLS match, as the 22 year will return to Germany to rejoin Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen following a long-term loan, Yanks Abroad has learned. The now ex-San Jose Earthquake is due in Leverkusen this weekend and will attend Saturday's match against SC Freiburg at the BayArena, Leverkusen press officer Uli Dost confirmed to YA. "He will arrive in Leverkusen Friday," Dost says Thursday morning. "At that time we will present him to the players and the coaching staff." "During the following week we will meet with the player and his advisors, and an official announcement will come at that time." Donovan will not be able to play for the Bavarians until the January 1st transfer window opens, but will be available in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League if the side progresses, or the UEFA Cup if they finish in third position of their group. he didn't grow a sack... The loan just expiered. and Sj may move.. Now an extra bit of presure on Landon now that DMN at PSV is turing out to be a EXCELLENT sucess....
Donovan won't be playing for the Bavarians for a while if he is playing for Leverkusen. Leverkusen is in western Germany - the North Rhine-Westphalia area while Bavaria is the SE section.
landon, you're a nike guy. if you leave mls to escape Adidas, you must go to a nike club. what is wrong with you?
Bavarians? Leverkusen is a few hundred miles from Bavaria. Just a tip for those hard-working folks at yanks-abroad.com: * Bayern, as in Bayern Munich, means "Bavaria" * Bayer (without the "n"), as in Bayer Leverkusen, is a large German pharmaceutical firm that's best known in this country for making aspirin. Two completely separate things. Leverkusen is at one end of the country and Bavaria is in the other end.
Bayer is now best known for selling Levitra. My wife is a sales rep for Bayer that just outsourced her job to Shering-Plough. She hopes to get hired on so we can buy more Quakes season tickets. Good luck Landon it's been a fun ride my whole family will miss your professionalism. We watched you grow up. Thanks for being so great with our kids and all the kids in this area. I keep saying George Best was the best player I saw play live, but now I change my mind. It's going to be fun watching you on FSW dicing up the Germans.
Ahem, we pronounce the most-known product "Bear." That would be Bayer Aspirin. Bayer AG sold the U.S. arm during one of the world wars for political reasons then bought it back in the 1980s, IIRC.
If it's true that Landon's gone soon, then it's too bad that he won't get the experience the rest of the San Jose Earthquakes players will have when the Quakes' new stadium in either San Jose or Santa Clara is ready for play in 2006 or 2007. Unless some clause has him returning to San Jose by then, of course. -G
No Landon No MLS Cup winning team shall we start predicting the dismal attendance for 2005 considering it was terrible with Landon and a title 4k average
goodbye landon, we will miss you. man san jose has had a bad year. 1. possible relocation 2. tony a. steps down 3. miss the mls cup 4. good bye landon 5. good bye san jose hopefully they will get a good allocation and a possible stadium in santa clara by 2006 or 2007
Unlike the Galaxy, San Jose has never had an MLS league game with attendance in the 4k range... with or without Landon or an MLS Cup winning team. -G
Dear Bruce Arena, For the benefit of US Soccer, the USMNT, and US fans , please give Landon a nice push onto a plane headed to Germany. Whisper in his ear at the terminal something along the lines of "Go or lose your spot on the USMNT". Our "golden boy" is currently being outshone by Beasley and Convey and they are not supposed to be as good as Landon.
I know that if Donovan goes to Germany it will improve his skills and all, but I have to admit I like watching him play in MLS. Maybe just a little longer?
my mistake I meant conner and how do they outshine baby jesus? they play with the big boys and landon still holds on to the side of the pool and won't go past the point where his feet can touch the bottom of the pool its kinda like taking a Spanish 1 class when you speak it fluently at home
