I've taken some freedom with bits of the translation: The strong rivalry between Mexico and the US leaves an unclear picture of who the "Giants of CONCACAF" are for Juan Carlos Cacho, who was recently called up by Hugo Sánchez (translator's note - "Bwhahaha!"). For this moron there is no doubt and he assures the press, as he hands Mexican reporters some white pills and hot chocolate, that Mexico is. On February 6th, he'll have to show it. "Yes, I believe that Mexico is the region's giant," said Cacho. "I also believe in the Easter Bunny and the effectiveness of big government. We have already shown it and we continue growing, but yes, we do actually have to prove it on the field. That has always kind of sucked for us. We would prefer to just pronounce ourselves as the kings and have everyone actually believe it. By the way, does anyone want another pill?" He also spoke personally of the callup, saying he finds himself "content, because that is our goal, what we have wanted, our opportunity, try to support the team and hope it goes well." Cacho had to take a breath, otherwise the run on sentence surely would have continued. ... Juan Carlos' possible departure overseas is increasingly a recurring topic, one which he takes calmly, "everything builds on top of itself, work 100% on your club and get to the Tri, and being on the Tri and doing well according to Hugo gives you a little leverage in going abroad. Maybe on day I'll be good enough to play in MLS. We'll see." ... Finally, Cacho spoke briefly but concretely of the constant declarations of Landon Donovan trying to create a tense atmosphere before the contest,"Everything he says are just words, where you show it is on the field, like when he burried us in the World Cup, and the other games where he's pretty much owned and embarrassed us. I sure hope that Onyewu guy doesn't show up. He's scary."
Mexico is everyone's bitch. Except Brazil, who for some reason can't beat them. Maybe they feel sorry for them.
Portugal, Argentina, and Landon Donovan disagree Riddle me this. When's the last time Mexico defeated the USA when the elevation has been under a mile and our players weren't breathing ash?
And they keep talking Regarding Landon Donovan, [Rojas] noted, "I am not pleased at all. I think he's spoken badly about the Tri, and I don't like it. I hope to have the opportunity to talk to him and more than anything prove on the field who is Mexico." Rojas added that he hoped to show his superiority over the American attacker. "I hope to win and equally to leave a memory about who is and is not allowed to speak badly of the Tri," he said.
And keep talking He also spoke of painful fight with the United States, "these are difficult, complicated games in which we all want to win, we all want to overcome this team for everything that is mentioned, the treatment being given to Mexicans there, then we all want clean our honor in this matter,"said Sinha with very nationalistic tones. Is the United States in Mexico's head? - Sinha, smiles and responds, "was", a naturalized Mexican hopes to change a little history in Houston.
Who is allowed to speak badly: Any US Nat since 1999. Anyone on Big Soccer Anyone in the US Honduras Panama Argentina Mexican fans the day after they play the US Who's not Hugo Sanchez Richard LaVolpe
you guys crack me up LOL All I hear is that the USA "F" team is going to wipe the floor with Mexico's "A" team and all this other nonsense so I just want to clear a few things up. 1.- Don't flatter yourselves, while we really do want to win this game, we didn't bring our European based players solely for that reason. Mexico always takes advantage of FIFA dates to bring the group together and train for a few days. Do some research and you'll understand what I'm talking about. 2.- There are like 6 or 7 different Mexico threads around here, not to mention the ones in your MLS Forums. What's the deal with that? Does playing Mexico turn you on that much? 3.- Your record against us is based on YOUR home games that are played here on US soil. You guys have NEVER won in Mexico, EVER. Although you did win on neutral ground (Korea) and when it counted. I fully respect that but the overall record of games played between our countries is much, much more lopsided, again, do some research and you'll see. 4.- Please, don't try to translate Mexican media articles around here. There is a certain journalistic style in Mexico, they like controversy and look to rile people up. Not to mention you don't know our language (I'm guessing) and don't understand such intricacies, and when you translate some things, the meaning is lost in translation, which could lead to World Rivalries style feuds around here. 5.- Stop piling all us Mexicans into the same category of "classless el Tri fans", because I know there are some crazzy folk around here who think Jozy and Freddy are the best ever and the US will win the WC in '10 just like there are also crazy mexican fans but I've met more than my fair share of gracious and intelligent US Soccer fans (I grew up playing with some of them) so yeah... Anywho...good luck to you guys and I honestly hope it's as entertaining a game as the Gold Cup Final (although I'm praying nightly and making deals with the guy upstairs so that he'll finally end this curse.) Toodles
The first week in February, after 3 months of off season, its all that there is so yes it does. When Mexico stops playing 'home' games here (and not just versus the US), I'll actually worry about where the match is.
I think you would prefer having those "crazy folk" preaching the word of Adu and Altidore than have classless Tri fans throwing beer and wanting to fight you at the games. In my opinion Mexico has way more to prove than the U.S does hence the call-up of the exiled Sinha.Anyway, this is shaping up to be another classic battle. Heres to whooping Mexico just for the hell of it again. Enjoy the game and may the best team win. GO USA.
Don't forget when we knocked you out of the Copa America (in penalties?), I was like 5 or 6 when that happened.
soooo many threads on this, mostly because outside of Poland this is the only other quality team we own in competition.
you know I'm curious, and I know for some of you it might be taken as a blasphemy, what would you guys say if Mexico beat the US....and then beat them again a few times would that mean that the times the US has beaten mexico have been just luck?
No. We're better. We proved it. Repeatedly. End of Story. It is now Mexico who has to prove their worth against USA.
No, but it would make the rivalry even more intense. As a US fan losing a couple would suck, but isn't that how rivalries grow?
If that were to happen, I would take it to mean that Mexico is once again superior to the US in football. Just as, currently, the US is superior to Mexico (Since 2000 the US are 8-2-1 against Mexico).
What are these embarrassments in World Cups that you speak of? Sending Colombia and Portugal home in the group stage? Nailing Mexico's ass in the knock-out stage? Being the only team to take a point off of Italy? Really, I'm interested. Oh yeah, we lost to Iran in 1998, I'll grant you that one.
Time for some friendly trivia! What is the number of Official non-Concacaf wins by the US this decade? Give up? The answer is 1 : Portugal 2002 1 win since the turn of the millenium and 0 since 2002 Thanks for playing
LOL... how many games must they lose before they are convinced? I mean, they could lose the next ten and they'll still be unclear. But on the other hand, if they only win ONE, I'm sure they'll use that to validate their claim to "Giants of CONCACAF". Just amazing.
