Now they look like geniuses (sp?) The brilliant and categoric win vs Inter has been praised everywhere in a team that just 3 weeks ago was roaming, dropping off to the relegation positions. The fans wonder what's the factor that made that radical change. There's two esential things: First and foremost Rado's arrival, the serbian has entered the locker room smartly, he gave back self-esteem and joy to the squad that started to see them in Segunda, now the training sessions are happier and the jokes before the games in the bus are happening again. In the field he changed 4 things from the team that lost 2-4 against Valencia or 2-0 in Vigo, there's only 2 differences in the lineup, however, the players are in their positions and there's no more experimentation, the wingers are wingers, the centrebacks are centrebacks and the forwards to score goals. LvG got beat by the facts surrounding him, It doesnt mean he's a bad coach but to work in such a heavy environment its impossible (But I'm still happy he left :D) Talking about environment Van gaal's exit (as well as Gaspart's) provoked the criticism ceased and started to support the team by the whole fan base, now everybody pulls to the same direction. The future foresees better with Andersson's and LE21's return, eventhough there's still doubts in how the team will manage the euphoria for the last results.
The VG's tenure might be examined in some aspects just looking at Saviola's performances!

    With LvG:

    1. He used 4 concepts and nobody made him refrain about his attitude, has no flexibility in some concepts, the team was previsible.

    2. It was worried to defend. Van Gaal wanted Saviola to defend and he lost vision to attack.

    3. LvG couldn't handle the pressure, the results betrayed him, the pressure was enormous.

    4. The team was sad and without motivation, worried, without the ability to react, the team was with low morale.

    5. Every time he risked less in the attack, the game became mechanized, had no offensive projection.

    6. The team was horizontal team. They had fear to lost the ball, in the end they played to the sides and not forward

    7. Some players are able to play in several positions, it doesnt matter, that players wasted their talents defending and going up.

    8. It was awful see them try to score, one of Vg's biggest trouble no contundency in attack, in the last weeks, Kluivert and Saviola had no scoring figures, the Board didnt bring a reinforcement eventhough he asked for it.

    9. His average was 1.6 goals per match, on second halves they lacked stamina (they still)

    10. Navarro's injury was key, the squad played several matches without a left back.

    With Antic:

    1. A rational disposition of tactics, logical changes and everyone plays in his natural position.

    2. Now Javi has his natural goalscorer instinct back he's a '9' without defensive duties, he scores again.

    3. The fans welcomed him with arms wide open, VG's and Gaspart's exit relaxed the environment and made the fan base support Antic since the beggining

    4. The laughs are back, the squad have fun again, jokes even in the bus, before? not even think about it!

    5. The team has found the ideal diagramation, Antic plays going forward ALWAYS, if you risk, you win.

    6. There's no more room for fear to lose the ball, no waste of time in 'bad passes', they now choose the best pass, the player in better position.

    7. The players are clear about their demarcation on the pitch and their functions.

    8. It's easy for the team to score. Average per match? 2.3 Saviola and Kluivert score again.

    9. Work out in shape and stamina pays. Once he put feet in Can Barça, Antic improves fitness, the team notices that.

    10. Sorín completes the roster. Antic plays with two FB's and two CB's, Defense improves notably, with Andersson will be better.

You forgot to mention the NOTEBOOK! Personally, I think Van Gaal's NOTEBOOK is to blame, and I'm happy to see it gone. ;)

By the way, great post Mario.

    Wow, Mario, that's some post.

This weekend's result will go some ways to seeing how things are going. Another three points and it might be ok to start dreaming again. But, Barca is still 12 points out of the last Champs League spot, and Deportivo could suddenly have a lot fewer matches to play if they don't make it out of this group stage.

I think one of the key points in your analysis, Mario, is the idea of both LvG and JG being gone and the pressure being off the players.

Re: Re: Analysis, why with Antic and not with LvG???

heh heh. I'd almost forgotten about that thing, Roblar. I wonder what he drew in it...pictures of Rivaldo with pins coming out of his head? [/B][/QUOTE]

That's why he's our Mod! :) I'm thrilled to see goals being scored again, but you bring up a good point about the defense. I didn't think the Navarro injury would hurt so much. I also thought the arrival of Sorin meant the end for Reiziger, but clearly that isn't the case. He seems to have the two DB's working quite well out wide.

Sport had a funny comment: "Pero este Barça, además de confianza y otras muchas cosas tiene también, como se suele decir, una flor en el culo." ha!

    Good analysis, Mario.

But i´d prefer wait a bit before showing much confidence.

The defence is still very weak.

    Besides, Overmars got injured yesterday.

True, Overmars got a rocket hit in his head from Puyol (accidentally of course) but Mendieta is able to run that band and Motta on the left, fortunately we have a huge roster!
