Decent penalty shout for the off-the-ball contact on Dempsey right after... And then the caution in the 72nd minute looked worse than that from the one, abbreviated replay we saw. I will say, despite the fact that I screamed "RED!" on the Altidore foul... he got it right and yellow was the proper call.
as for everything else, terrible referee. But expected. He is from MALI. I mean... how much opportunity such a guy has to referee big important matches? How big is the Mali local league?
Coulibaly has proven himself incredibly adept at inventing infringements against the attacking side in the penalty area.
I know you can find a reason to call the forwards in the box on almost any ball in but really almost every time the US has a ball in to the PA the officials is calling some strange things.
I don't understand... I didn't see offside, everyone's holding everyone, play the advantage and allow the goal. What am I missing... then blatant Slovenia shove from behind .... no call? I have to be missing something....
Pure fiction. Bradley is receiving a bear hug in the penalty area, USA scores and because there's some contact, it's clearly a DFK for the defense. He's been doing this all game long.
The one receiving the bear hug was Bradley. Watch the replay. It was a bad call, just like the Findley yellow. This referee just is having a bad game.
My God! The level of incompetence and failure to sanction is amazing. Whistle for offside for a player that is clearly on side! Miss two bear hugs one of them a wrestling take down on the same play. Truly amazing.
This will be a test of American character in the post game comments. So far under the Bradley reign I have been impressed with how this team has suffered disappointments with grace and style. Let's hope it continues here.
As an American I'm outraged. As a referee I am stunned at the level of incompetence. There were a number of wrong decisions and some truly bizzare decisions too.
As a fan, I am angry. As a referee, I am embarrassed. What we just watched was a failure of our profession on every level.
