OK, so, Amo has stated time and time again that he wants to finish his career at Ibrox. McLeish states yesterday he feels Amo is resigned to leaving the club. Is Amo being forced out? The guy offers to take a wage cut to stay at Ibrox, plays his heart out, completely loses his composure when hoisting the Cup, and his love for rangers is reduced to "McLeish is unsure of Amoruso future." Bothers the heck out of me that they'd let him go with a season upcoming of Champions League and Treble-defense. 1.5m is worth his departure? give me a break.
I dont think Amo's being forced out, we need the money. Badly. If only we could bargain for some more. He's worth twice that, but if we tried we could scare off the bidders. This is gonna be a big season ahead, with the CL and treble defense as you mentioned. I reckon eck's the man to bring in the best, cheap or free agents, i have faith in him.
Ok Smalce help me out here. Sequence of events - Blackburn offers for Amo. Rangers accept bid. McLeish in his latest interview says "we'll have to wait and see what Amo decides to do when he returns from holiday" what Amo decides to do? does he have right of refusal on this deal because he is under contract for another year? in the states we have free agency and the rules that go along with that. my love for rangers football is always overshadowed by the fact that we're (in the states) still newbies when it comes to how footie works, off the pitch. splain me please
No, it's not the same as trades in the states. Over here, unless the player has a no-trade clause, they're stuck wherever they're sent. In every other country (I believe), after the teams agree on a transfer fee, the team wanting to acquire the player still need to agree on a new contract. Contracts don't carry over to the new club, hence the need to agree on a contract. A lot of times, you'll see stories about players on huge contract refusing to sign with a new team because it will be for less money, even though leaving would help their current club. You've got to love greed.
Ahh ok so when I see "so and so refused the offer" even though the teams came to an agreement, and the deal collapses, it's about the new contract. Well, I sincerily hope that Amo and Gers can come to an agreement.. including a wage reduction as he's already agreed to talking about. we ARE going into champions league next season and losing the experienced players, not to mention Arteta possibly going as I just read, could be disastrous.
