Rangers' Lorenzo Amoruso has been given a four-match ban after being found guilty of deliberately spitting on Ayr United striker James Grady.
The incident took place during the Tennent's Scottish Cup tie at Somerset Park on 22 February.

Amoruso had insisted that he had not intentionally spat at Grady.

BBC Television cameras captured the episode and a Scottish Football Association review panel decided there was a case to answer.

A disciplinary commitee sat at Hampden Park on Tuesday afternoon and handed out a two-match ban by way of punishment.

12 points were also added to the defender's disciplinary record, which leads to a further two game absence.

The ban takes immediate effect, with Amoruso missing Wednesday night's home tie with Motherwell.

Rangers have elected not to appeal the decision.

It's a major blow to lose Lorenzo at this stage of the season

The Italian also misses Sunday's Scottish Cup visit to Dunfermline and league clashes with Partick Thistle and Dundee United.

Ibrox manager Alex McLeish was disappointed at the decision.

"We hoped that the player's version of events would be accepted," he said.

"It's a major blow to lose Lorenzo at this stage of the season."

Grady commented afterwards: "It is done and dusted now and I would like to draw a line under it.

"The powers that be have had a look at the TV evidence and it is up to them to make a decision, but I think they have made the right on."

Rangers youngster Bob Malcolm is the likeliest candidate to fill Amoruso's place at the heart of the league leader's defence, although McLeish could look to Dan Eggen or Bert Konterman.
