A lot of the conversation today has been about who might have played themselves out of contention. Fabricio Bruno and Hugo Souza obviously the two no one wants to see again, but Beraldo is also being highlighted for his mistakes and Carlos Augusto for just a poor performance in general (which also hurt Beraldo).

For the zagueiros, we're looking at a 5th or 6th option, so it's easier to let go of them. But I am worried that they're set on goalkeepers and won't look elsewhere. We'll see when November comes around.

I saw a video where Fabrício Bruno talks about his speed within the context of him being hard to catch.

I will admit I don't follow Cruzeiro although I know Cruzeiro is doing well in the Campeonato Brasileiro, with the Raposa having allowed 20 goals in 26 matches. I speculate Fabrício Bruno has been part of the reason.

However, whatever merits he deserves for contributing to Cruzeiro currently being 3rd in the Campeonato Brasileiro, he came across as quite arrogant in the video about his speed, and being too defensive in the post-match interview strikes me rather negatively.

I know it was an embarrassing blooper which most professionals who play as zagueiros in the highest-ranking teams of a given Campeonato Brasileiro are not going to commit often, but his attitude left a negative impression.

Ancelotti said singular mistakes in this match won't impact odds of being in the World Cup roster, but I wonder if Ancelotti really meant that. It was one of the worst showings by one beque during an entire 45 minute period in some time - and it cost us the win.

Once again, "defense wins championships" - I've been saying that on this website for years. The Tetra was won in large part because of that. I was a fan of Tite because Tite's Brazil was solid in the back.
