According to Forbes, 5 of the 8 American MISL cities are in the Top 6 most miserable cities in America. Detroit, Stockton, New York (stand in for Newark in my mind), Philadelphia, and Chicago come in at #s 1, 2, 4, 5, & 6, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 ae Flint, LA, Modesto, Charlotte, & Providence. Expansion anyone? http://www.forbes.com/2008/01/29/detroit-stockton-flint-biz-cz_kb_0130miserable.html
I think that study must have factored in taxes and bad leadership. Realistically Rhode Island is too small to be a state, the taxes on just over 1 million people to run a city, a state and local government is too much. A lot of RI professionals work in Boston and commute because the tax situation has driven out some big business. Factor in bad leadership at all levels and its a wonder there is anyone left. Detroit is a given but you are right its odd how MISL has found a home in this list. It must be said that having NY, LA and Chicago on the list is interesting. Those are seen by many to be desirable places to visit/live.
This top ten list is truely in error. Where in the world is the City of Milwaukee????? Now here is a miserable city for you. Notwithstanding the fact that this city is extremely dangerous and it will be the host of the MISL Finals. So lets do the math. You have a city that #1 on the Forbes most miserable list. Clearly it's #1 on the most dangerous list; and yet they get to host the Finals. Unreal. For those of us who will be witnessing the BALTIMORE BLAST's triumphed return to the top, please be careful. SHAME
Funny thing is that in a national poll taken maybe 2 years ago in which the question was asked "If you could no longer live in the city you currently live and HAD to move to another city in the U.S., what would be your favored destination?" ............ the number 1 choice in an absolute RUNAWAY was New York. These type of contrived things by Forbes and others are totally useless.
Stockton may have gotten there because of the impact of the recent mortgage foreclosure crisis. There have recently been a huge number of foreclosures in Stockton. Many Californians sought to buy there during the housing boom because the cost of housing was somewhat reasonable in Stockton. But a lot of the new buyers got subprime mortgages and the buyers couldn't afford increased mortgage payments when the interest rates went up.
Hey Blast fans , everytime this guy talks like this your team falls on it's face. Last year when he did this , your team got struck with injuries, could not score, and fell from the playoff picture. I hope he keeps it up,but you guys for your sake need to shut him up.
No one pays him any mind, and he did that during the 3 championship seasons as well. Move along, nothing to see here.
