I read somewhere on the Manchester United board that a 17 year old American from around Chicago is moving to Man U in the summer.. does anyone else have any info on this topic? thanks
Sure. His name is Jonathan Spector, and he'll be joining their U17 team this fall. Here's more info on him: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NextStep/1043637646/view
you might find more information on either the junior boards or the web page www.topdrawersoccer.com. From my understanding the kid's name is Jonathan Spector. He is a defender. He was there early this year and was told to come back during the summer transfer window to start.
Well, he was told that he cannot sign a pro contract until he turns 17 I believe, and that is sometime in July. So he wouldn't go to Man. U until then. But he'll be playing in the U-17 WC in Finland, after that he'll join United's youth team.
17 in march, would join ManU in June except for U-17 WC. Will go in August sometime most likely, and is slated to start playing only with their youth side, not reserves or anything yet, but that of course can change quickly - especilaly since he has an EU passport and will have not a bit of trouble getting a work permit.
He turns 17 in March, but can't join them due to the fact that the transfer window is closed, so he'll have to wait until June
Transfer window doesn't apply to him, he isn't tranfering from anywhere..... he's an unsigned player.
According to the article from tropdrawersoccer.com, the reason he won't sign for united until June is due to the transfer window closing. I agree with what you see, since technically he's not transfering from anywhere, but that's what the article says.
I'm really not sure, but I don't think you can sign any new players during the season either, you have to wait until end of season, or winter transfer window. With Spector he couldn't sign a contract until after his 17th b-day anyway.
