http://www.libero.com.pe/2004/FEBRERO/pdf5/cristal.htm Apparently, this dude has peruvian roots and will be presented Friday for the Sporting Cristal club, which will play in the Copa Libertadores tournament. Anyone heard of this guy?? Article says he played for US at the 1999 championships in Nigeria...and has played in Sweden (where, I might add, there's been an influx of the Peruvian population) I guess, apart from all the dudes that recently signed in Europe from MLS, we now have this dude to root for in Libertadores. Sporting Cristal's first game in CL is Feb 10 against Coritiba (Brasil) in Lima, I believe at 5:30 p.m. EST on Fox Sports en Espanol...
Lius "Luchi" Gonzales Spent a year riding San Jose's pine. Then tried out a few weeks at Crew. He then took his game to Sweden, where I believe he played well, according to accounts in this forum.
I have always thought this kids has good potential.... He is a good pick up by Cristal...Here's hoping he turns some heads during Copa Liberatadores.....
Small. He has good skill and is particulalry effective on free kicks. But, he isn't that big. He used to be pretty fast but he did his ACL pretty badly during his freshman year at SMU and that cost him some speed, which is pretty much why he isn't in MLS now. In a less physical and more finesse league, I think Luchi could do well.
