OK, I admit it. I never thought I'd like this show. In fact, I said it was a waste of time a while back when GringoTex (I think it was him) who said he was psyched the news season was starting.

But I started watching it this season. All I can say is wow, some of these people are REALLY good. Especially Ruben Studdard. That man can sing. And Trynece. Either one of them should win this thing, and I prefer Ruben.

I just think it's hysterical how the show extended it from a "final 10" to a "final 12" to make the show run into May sweeps and now people are getting kicked off left and right possibly forcing them to end the show before sweeps.

Kinda sad when at least 3 of the 12 "American Idols" are in trouble with the law.

Funny how Simon states that some of the girls will need to lose weight and criticizes their wardrobe each week but Rueben who is enormous and wears the same type of shirt each week is the odds on favorite to win...

funny but true. People are much more concerned with the shape and figure of a female pop star then they are with a male pop star. Not that there are a pile of large pop stars out there right now though!

Ok, I'm also hooked. They didn't boot anyone off, since Corey got booted earlier. They managed to drag it til the bitter end to make this announcement. But, it was Trenyce, Kim, and Carmen who'd been pegged to be kicked off. Next week, they'll add votes from this week in to next week's total to see who goes and who stays.

I don't know, I'm hooked on the show, but don't like the style of singing much. Ruben I like pretty well and think Clay's a good singer, but Trenyce drives me nuts with the way she's moving her fingers all the time. I thought the song she sang this week was a stinker (not her performance, necessarily).

Haven't watched a single episode but I've got to be pulling for the local guy. Go Ruben!

American Idol is only good the first days when they show all the sorryass people who are as pathethic as they come. On those days its as funny as any show out there.

Actually, they didn't boot anybody off so they wouldn't miss out on a week of advertising (and presumably because Simon wasn't ready to get rid of Felonyce or Barely Legal just yet).

That really really pissed me off.

I agree. I watched the first couple of weeks to see the bad contestants (the guy in Atlanta who sang "Like A Virgin" was the funniest thing I have seen on TV this year). I kinda lost interest since because a) the musical choices are a bit stale (I would like to see the singer sing some more contemporary and hip stuff) and b) Ruben is going to win in a walk!

This is from a tv website some of you may be familiar with:

So here's the deal: Television has been feeding us tripe for decades and telling us it's what we want. The ratings prove it! So, you know, let's turn the tables on them. For some reason unknown to any logic-based mind, the dark forces behind American Idol are insistent on doing whatever it takes to convince us that the massively untalented Carmen is a star in the making. So I say, let's give her to them. Vote for Carmen! Repeatedly! Weekly! Let them try to make a silk purse out of a goat's ear! And unlike the sense of dread we feel whenever Kelly (deleted) is trotted out to sing some wretched, bland piece of inconsequential pop, we can enjoy watching everybody involved fail. So vote for Carmen! Vote for Carmen and teach these folks the meaning of "Be careful what you wish for." Who's with me? Don't worry about Clay or Ruben. They'll land on their feet, I'm sure. And if you're concerned that Carmen's victory could open the Seal and release Tsathoggua, remember this: Whenever an insanely powerful, malignant entity is released from its supernatural prison, it almost always kills its own followers first.
P.S.: Rickey is ejected tonight. Not Carmen. Just in case I was unclear.

Actually, that's sort of a good idea. Anybody remember how we organized to vote certain spots off the USA Today Survivor poll during the World Cup? They ended up ending the poll early, stating the reason was certain web sites were coordinating votes. I'm game, but I don't this forum gets enough viewings to make a difference.

The show this season is unwatchable. Bunch of talentless people, I feel like I'm watching Karaoke Night. In the first American Idol it was clear to me that Kelly Clarkson had awesome singing talent and the other tool Justin was merely strung along for the teen girls. This season, they all suck beyond repair. There is no American Idol in this bunch. If I have one wish from God it's that the smug Clay Aiken gets his SS booted before this show ends. The guy should be crooning on Senior Night at Del Boca Vista Condo Complex (Phase #2) in Sarasota, Florida. If you have to give it to someone, give it to Carmen. At least she looks pretty good. The rest of the bunch sing only slightly better than me if I had my nuts in a vice.

I'm not afraid to admit I watch this show every week and then 24. It's entertaining.

Ian, your nuts were in a vice during your audition of Like a Virgin...at least that's what it sounded like on TV.

What was the deal with Smokey Robinson last night? He looked kind of bizarre. Anyone who is wearing gold chains over a turtleneck is in dire need of a style upgrade. And those short dreads look much better on Cobi and that's saying a lot.

The final three will be Ruben, Clay & Josh.

When is punk night? I can't wait to hear Ruben bust out "Clash City Rocker".
