Better I think we have seen in the past that when a company takes over a football club, the club itself is not the first priority anymore. Even if the club was spun off and sold directly back to Bates I don't think he would be willing to plough as much money into CFC as he is when he controls all the property assets as well. The big companies controlling stakes in Serie A are prime examples of how CFC could be ruined by such management. I think clubs like ours are best served when controlled by a small group of investors who also care about the club and its traditions (scarily enough I think Ken does these days).
That's all Chelsea is worth? Geesh. I've forwarded this article to the buyer at the Retirement Fund I work for, to see if we can possibly buy a team.
Agreed about the bates thing, i think he is just too long in the tooth anymore and realises it.His dream of a great Chelsea empire...ie CV has been realised and now he wants that elusive championship for the Man utd of the south. This American company that allegedly wants into "just" the CV itself makes no sense whatso ever really. The CV has been failing and failing badly too i might add over it's lifetime. Why somebody would want into it is a mystery.Plus Bates would have to actually hand over control of the club on the "promise" that he would get it back...dodgy. The real money is in the club and it the real potential for further earnings is in the club, not the Village. Strange indeed. Can't wait to see the CAG spin on this.
Chelsea Pensioners So this bunch of septics wants to put there money into the Chelsea Village (which is NOT the club). An Hotel in Fulham/Chelsea could be a real money spinner IF run correctly. When I stayed there last April it was alright, not a great Hotel, put cheap considering its location. The Night club, although not really my type of club, seemed to be doing great business. btw- Stogey23 who's the ugly bint?
