America with the 0-0 draw at home last night against Huracan leaves the door open for Corinthians to take that second spot if (or when) they beat Racing tonight. Too bad. Match started too late for this old boy to stay up and watch.

Yes it looks pretty bad for america even though racing Montevideo seems like a garbage team. They will probably lose all games. No matter if they take the lead or play with an extra man they somehow always end up losing.

In the new format of the European leagues I'm positive that America would have survived but they got a tough group.
Can't wait for that format to come to Conmebol much fairer imo.

I was mistaken, thinking this week was the final round of matches.

With one more round, America (3rd) trails Corinthians by one point. They play at home against Racing Uruguay, which should be a win. Corinthians have to go play away in Argentina against Huracan the group leader. An America win and Corinthians loss or draw puts America through to the next round.

Yeah let's hope for the best. What bugs me is that the qualification isn't in their own hands. They depend on Huracans help.

Hope they have good weather in Cali for next game so it doesn't turn into Water polo. Playing in those circumstances anything may happen.

this team has been nothing but a tease, draws everywhere and are incapable of just shooting at goal and scoring some goals, they needed that win with Huracan yesterday

    America's finishing is absolutely pitiful

I can totally see why they are in the position they're in. They play well and all but their finishing is on par with Colombia of 2008-2010

    embarrassing.

Huracan are actually doing them the favor too beating Corinthians puts America through to the next round despite they're constant refusal to win games

    LMAO.
Garbage team. Can't string together more than 3 passes. In spite of playing like shit they would've qualified since Huracan did all the work for them. All they needed to do was to draw 0-0.
    Then this happened.

Well they don't deserve to qualify so I'm not sad at all. Pathetic team.

As usual hoping ref will save our asses with a BS decision. JFQ getting furious that he doesn't get a penalty out of nothing.

Well finally they got lucky. Still a crap performance. It would be hypocritical to say otherwise.

They just happened to face the worst team of the tournament, and since they started time wasting they probably didn't deserve to win either so I guess the draw was fair.

Sad the level of colombian football though. But nacional played a bit better. I actually thought america played well first games but this was not a nice game to watch.

Wow, didn't watch the match but I see they drew with a 90+5' goal to go through as the second place squad.

Since it’s is the summer can they buy players for the knockout rounds.

the attackers on this team are criminally bad

America made it to the Knockout Playoff round by finishing second in their group. The group winners go directly into the 1/8 Finals (Group of 16), while the 8 second place finishers play 8 squads that drop down from Copa Libertadores (third place finishers).

America will play Bahia. First match is July 15 in Brazil. Return is July 22 in Colombia.

Based on what I have seen of Bahia against Nacional I expect to see a couple of boring 0-0 matches with lots of misses and wasted goal chances.

    Hope I am wrong though.

Once Caldas got the best draw. They play Bulo Bulo. If America can get past Bahia I think they're cooked Screenshot_20250602_115937_X.jpg
