they ruled out the second because Ramos grazed the ball after being in an offside position, lame. America have looked excellent, I will say that Corinthians used a lot of subs for this game.
Still the game looks winnable to me. They just have to remain focused and not go full gamin over every ref decision. Happy to see that there is less of that in this 2nd half otherwise we would see stupid red cards and it would probably favor them.
its 100% winnable. This Corinthians team is not that great and they are still missing a lot of starting 11 players. Mina is getting ruined on his side with Carrillo which was expected. The workrate was wonderful but they are out of gas now (America)
And it helps when they occasionally string together several passes which keeps Corinthians on defense rather than offense. As with their match against Once Caldas, they seem to have trouble with ball control.
somewhere around the 65th-70th minute America started falling apart, I knew having that 2nd goal ruled out was going to ruin everything. A 1 goal advantage isn't good enough

So many guys getting hurt all the time. When you see this it doesn't surprise you that we had 4-5 season long injuries in just a few months internationally. Many players just aren't physically equipped even if they are good technically.
Now on 4 points in Group C, same as Corinthians, who lost at home to Huracan in the first round. Huracan might be the top squad in this group, but America can challenge for second. But they need a ball control midfielder or two.
This result sucks. It's going to be tough to qualify, hope Huracan drops points against Racing but I doubt it'll happen. Quintero looks great though playing in Colombia. He looks 3-4 years younger. Anything can happen though. America plays very vertical and is a joy to watch at times, but they got a very tough group.
I really hope that they'll convert this group system to the league format that they tried out in the CL. To me it's been a total success, much more exciting and fair for the teams. The right teams qualify for the next round and they have more games too. I don't doubt that America would qualify under that system, but with Huracan and Corinthians, I don't know...
Yes, the new UEFA CL format was a big success. Although the home-and-away format for the same squads makes sense from a balance perspective, it was nice to see 8 different opponents rather than the same 3 within the group stage. And it more likely avoids the "Group of Death" issue. I haven't seen Huracan yet this season. IIRC they were an early leader in one of the phases last season but then dropped off in form. Beating Corinthians away shows that they are the group favorite. America beat Racing (Uruguay) away and so should be able to beat them at home. They will then need to take a point or two off Huracan (home and away) and Corinthians (away). I was surprised at how small their bench was for the weekend match; only six outfield players and one GK.
The uruguay side seem garbage so that victory didn't mean much. Huracan were 5-0 up after about 50 mins. It's going to be tough for America but I liked what I saw. They created danger pretty easily even if they only managed to score once.
this guy Romero, he's given away the ball like 3 times because his first touch is so crap. The first one generated a lot of problems for America
They had a good start but now the play is more level. Good game. This can go either way, hopefully they won't lose.
Mina coming off, ive seen him play before and I think he's a donkey of a full back so I won't be missing him
looks like America have adjusted to the pace of the game and are now thoroughly outplaying Huracan which remind me of the team they had in the sudamericana with Santa Fe. A team based on work rate and intensity but limited football ability
