Interbrew to Form No. 1 Brewer with AmBev

BRUSSELS/SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Belgium's Interbrew (INTB.BR) agreed on Wednesday to buy a majority stake in Brazil's AmBev (AMBV4.SA)(NYSE:ABV - news) in a 9.2 billion euro ($11.5 billion) deal to create the world's biggest brewer by volume, surpassing U.S. rival Anheuser-Busch (NYSE:BUD - news).

Interbrew Chief Executive John Brock, who took the helm of Interbrew one year ago, said the brewer of Stella Artois and Rolling Rock would end up with a 57 percent stake in AmBev, the maker of Brahma beer.
