Since there was a positive reaction over here to my last effort, I thought I'd mention that my second column for www.chicago-fire.com is up. Later, COZ
We'll see. If I saw a betting man, and I am, my bet would still be for #9 or #10. Mainly because Bob Bradley is no longer at the wheel and as good as Sarachan may be - he is still new to this position.
Enjoyed your article. I think one of the keys to the Fire's season which doesn't get mentinoed much is the form of Thornton. He's likely to face more pressure this year as other teams control the midfield more, and if he's anything like his end of the season form of 2002, the Fire are doomed. If he rebounds, however, the Fire may be in business. Will be interesting to see how Sarachan develops as coach as well. While he may have been a great Asst Nat'l team coach, who knows what kind of head man he'll be. At this point it's a big mystery.
Thanks. The point about Armas was with regard to last year, and Boca was mostly healthy. The foot injury that kept him out of the Gold Cup had mostly healed in time for the MLS season. And FlashMan, I'm not sure if I'm with you on Thornton, especially if the Fire is playing a 4-4-2 with both Armas and Marsch in the middle. I expect shots on goal against us to be way down. http://www.soccerharbor.com/id32.htm Shameless plug... Another amatuer, mostly just rumors, and I actually have a few sources unlike some other guys who just spout off rumors. This is my 2nd "column" and its a weekly thing, my writing skills still need improvement, after it was published I read the first few lines and noticed some errors, and I was wrong on Johnny Walker I know, expect a new column in the next few days, I usually try and do them on thursdays, sometimes it will be on the weekends though... Thanks, Matt Reaser
