This is before I decided on which club to cheer for(Arsenal, just recently). Last year when Arsenal completed the Double at Old Trafford and beat down Utd, I was not cheering and feeling like, "yeah take that Utd or go gunners!" I felt sick to my stomach and was grumpy for days and then my Arsenal friend(Brit) living in Naperville called to chat about the match. He was happy as a clam and I was depressed/didn't share in his joy. I feel like a total bandwagon fan supporting Arsenal when they are absolutely destroying the Premiership right now. I don't see anyone beating them again this year, another Double(in my opinion). Please respond. I am curious.

lol if you know a lot of people who supports Arsenal, then support them, otherwise you'll be arguing with them every time you talk about football! They might even call you a traitor as well :D

I don't know how my cousin did it, but he made his long-term gf to support Arsenal, even though she used to support Chelsea before she met him!

Its a weird time if your just starting to support Arsenal. The big things are how much attention you pay and how long you stay. I bet many Utd "fans" couldn't name more than 3 or 4 players from thier side (including Beckham, Van Nistelwhatever and Keane). Do you follow from game to game? It would be hard to watch every game. I try to see as many as possible, but some times things just don't work out (I didn't see the Leeds match until last night). If I can't see it then I'll look of the match reports and whatnot. Personally I paid little attention to Arsenal when I first started to follow them. I only got to see whatever the Monday night match was, sometimes caught the highlights show until I graduated in 98 when I was able to pay more attention. I don't think many people would consider myself a bandwagon fan.

    I hate bandwagon fans

Americans seem to becoming more and more bandwagon fans every year. Must be the new generation, cable tv, and the net. And yes I was born and raised in Chicago. That is why I feel cheering for Arsenal now is sooooo tainted and wreaks of gloryhound. In fact, I do know everyone on Man Utd and really can't name that many players on Arsenal.
    HELP!

Look mate, If you enjoy watching the Gunners and lets face it you'd have to, --unless of course you reside the wrong end of the Seven Sisters Road--, there's no shame jumping on the bandwagon.

Let's face it soccer doesn't have a huge profile in the US so it only stands to reason that you would be attracted to the Arsenal right now they are in the misdst of a real renaissance right now and are constantly in the limelight. Who pray tell would you rather support, Plymouth Argyle?

Don't let anyone get on your case about being a Johnny come lately as it is not a requirement to be born and raised in Islington to be a true Gooner, in fact I'd imagine alot of fans since the stadiums went all seater are from the home counties.

Enjoy it while it lasts, I was absolutely creaming myself watching the lads annhiliate El Tel's Leeds Utd at Elland Road...It sends chill up my spine just thinking about it.

Now, being from Chicago if you started supporting the Evil Yankees, then I'd be concerned!

Ask yourself a question, how did you feel when Arsenal clinched the Premiership at Old Trafford last season? If you weren't happy, then yes, you are a Red. In which case, get ready to feel sad for a while. I do not see Man Utd. playing anywhere near their best anytime soon; nevermind at Arsenal's level.
