Actually, as far as I know this is the first time that he's been called up to the U20 squad. He's getting a look before the championships begin, but he has to win a spot onthe squad - it's not a done deal yet.

Either way it will be a good experience for him. Best o' luck, of course...

He plays up an age age. He qualifies for U-17, but they've used him on the U-20s before. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the left flank due to the Quaranta and Johnson (or Buddle?) duo up top. Convey is a center midfielder for these guys.

Yeah, I know it's not on TV.

Anyway, Arturo scored the winning goal in the match against Norway U20's earlier today in his push to make the squad for the WYC.

The U20s are getting ready for the World Cup in the UAE (which now seems to be in serious jeopardy) by playing a tournament in Portugal. After tying Portugal 1-1, they beat Norway 2-0.

Arturo scored the first goal against Norway. Not sure if he'll make the final squad, but it seems like it could go either way.

Edit: Sorry, missed the fact that Mr. Bandwagon started another thread with this info...

I hope Rongen takes Arturo to YWC and leaves that DC scrub Barclay behind. :D

Re: Alvarez & U20s in UAE

From what I've read it probably won't happen until the fall now (unless it is actually moved to a different country).

This means Turo will actually have professional practise and game experience before then and thus his chances for making the team have improved drastically.

Originally, being U-18, he had an outside chance as he hadn't been called in much at all. Now with more seasoning and being game fit he has a damn good shot of going IMO.
