In my mind there are real in-their-soul Galaxy players who are not to be confused with players who just played for the Galaxy. Sean was/is/will always be in the first group and I wish him all the best in whatever comes next.
If you emptied out @SFranklin5’s pockets you’d find most of the best left mids in @MLS history. Congrats on an amazing carreer brother and thank you for helping me become a 2 time MLS Cup champion. Wouldn’t be it without you. (you know where this ball ended up right? 😂) pic.twitter.com/mTZzlnI9Jx— Mike Magee (@magee18) March 5, 2020
Kyle Martino and Eva Ammuri (Susan Sarandon's daughter) were such a beautiful couple that their wedding pics looked like they were from a fairy tale. Sorry to hear the marriage went south: https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/03/entertainment/eva-amurri-baby-divorce-trnd/index.html
A special on Becks is airing in ten minutes on Fox Sports 1, The Beckham Effect. A look at the legacy of David Beckham's five-year turn (2007-2012) in Major League Soccer, with its impact on the league's growth and ability to lure star players, and the effect on the the sport in the U.S.
That was really good. Brought back a lot of memories of those good old days! We were such a great team!
So nice looking back on those back-to-back Cups. Man, DB, LD, and Keano were so great together. Tiki taco, everyone feared us...you truly don't know what you have until it's gone.
Any lineup guesses? I'm hoping to see Steres in place of Pipo, partnered with DePuy. I also hope to see Jona, Lletget and Corona back together in the midfield, but I also won't be upset to see Kitchen as the dedicated DM in order to free up Jonathan a bit more offensively. Up top I'm sure we'll see the same three, although I really hope Katai worked on his fitness and sharpness all week because he was pretty bad last game after hitting the post on that header... Go Galaxy!
Alessandrini is off to a great start in China: Alessandrini's explosive introduction https://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202008/26/WS5f45c1e0a310675eafc558d1.html
Sure wish we had kept Alessandrini instead of getting Chicharito. He and Pavon would easily be our best players.
Think Brian Rowe was talking about the Galaxy? Rowe on ceding goals late in matches: "I've been on teams in the past where it's a trend throughout the year. ... I can tell you for certain I haven't had that once here. I'm truly not concerned about it. It's not a concern of mine."— Julia Poe (@byjuliapoe) November 8, 2020
“Nashville also signed Dave Romney and Joe Willis to contract extensions. The pair, along with MLS Defender of the Year Walker Zimmerman, anchored the defensive unit which set a new record for fewest goals conceded per 90 minutes for an expansion club.” https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...taying-and-whos-going-entering-2021-offseason
Moi? Criticizing the collective genius of those who’ve been running the Galaxy since Bruce left? I would never!!
Pretty much everyone has done better since leaving the Galaxy. Favio Alvarez is in the final with Pumas. Well, I guess Joao Pedro and Skjelvik still suck.
Here's a nice piece on perhaps the 2nd most famous Galaxy player of all time, Andrew Shue. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...y-andrew-shue-melrose-place-and-and-la-galaxy
This Andrew Shue piece is great. Highly recommended. I'll go to my grave arguing that he gave us quality minutes and was not a liability in the games he participated in.
Wow, seems like a genuinely good guy. I love his final quote from that article: “I mean, come on. You’re working with Heather Locklear in the morning, you’re playing soccer in the afternoon, you play in front of 60,000 people at the Rose Bowl on the weekend,” Shue says. “I don’t know how I lucked into it, but the whole thing was like a fantasy.”
Interesting. Today I am officially announcing I will be running for US Soccer Vice President. pic.twitter.com/N5472x49I0— Cobi Jones (@cobijones) December 21, 2020
AJDLG is now @ New England Revolution, reunited with Bruce Arena https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2021...n-sign-former-la-galaxy-defender-aj-delagarza
So I’m hearing that El Gato is our new goalkeeper coach. With Vanney as head coach and Captain Dan as assistant coach we have a very OG feel to our staff now....
This is good news, bad news. It’s good in the sense that I think he is likely a better GK coach than he was as an administrator working in the Academy. He was never well suited for that when he was doing it on the girls’ side and they pushed him from the girls side to the boys in kind of an oversight role even before the Girls Academy ended. It’s bad in the sense that it suggests the club is still operating more as a rest home for Galaxy legends than hiring the best people for the job. Hartman was roommates with Vanney at UCLA. He may be a good GK coach, but it’s been many years since he has done that and I’m not sure he’s ever done it on the pro level (he worked for the Red Bull’s for a little while, but it was with the youth GKs I believe). I think he last served a more official GK coaching role at IMG Academy for youth players. The fact that all the Galaxy GKs are pretty young may help him, but it’s still different managing GKs at the senior level than just training younger ones.
