Hey guys, Decided to start this thread because of a discusson on the USA board about our favorite topic, Altitude. Just wanted to post some quotes here to bring back some old topics and where are we now on the supposed studies going on that have never come up when trying to study the effects of altitude? Anyone know what happened with these studies? Anyways, here is a quote of all the posts that lead to posts talking about the altitude. Feel free to chime in with new news, or opinions of your own. Edit: Also this discussion came about, on how our 93' national team, although good players on their own, together were stronger as a WHOLE than as individuals, because of how good our chemistry, touch, and understanding of each player almost like 'brothers'. On how USA can learn a thing or two from that, and apply it to their new generation of youth coming through the ranks.
LOL This thread is more about education, or keeping up wtih teh news of the 'Altura'. I actaully think it would be a good idea to have this open. This guy Koko' actually posted this up. While the study is interesting, it still never answered the question of what it actually does to the body of a footballer, as there have never been studies on humans. This is just accounting for the wins and losses of teams playing in altitude. Doesn't mean that the home fans or even IMO for the argentines, their 'mental altitude' they have had when playing us. Yes, it plays a factor, but not enough to win us games. Does anyone know if there has been any studies since the time they tried to ban it 2 or 3 years ago again?
what education? Everybody on this board is well versed on the altitude argument. The FIFA ban was a political decision. Altitude is a benefit to the "altitude team" that plays in altitude and is well acclimated. That's not news to anyone. Our team, however, is comprised of mostly players who aren't from altitude and our best players don't acclimate to altitude, which is why Sanchez tried two different teams. It therefore becomes a big disadvantage to us, thus the traditional "altitude team" model does not apply. En conclusion. La bola de payasos que no saben nada siempre diran que ganamos por la altura o tenemos una ventaja injusta.
What's there to discuss? Have you guys ever tried to just walk fast in La Paz? It feels like your nuts are up in your throat, and your heart is going to grow legs and walk out of your chest. It definitely affects players, but remember that Argentina beat us in 2006 qualifiers in La Paz, and we spanked them in 2010. The only difference was Bielsa and Maradona. Altitude cannot be ignored, but it obviously can't be used as an excuse anymore. Ask Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil ('member 1997?...you'member!). Strategy wins or loses games, not air density
Truth! lol With that said, does anyone know if they ever released the supposed 'studies' they were working on years ago to find out the effects on the human body/footballer?
i think u guys have an advantage in altitude however not unfair because is you country and you guys want to play there it should be your choice.
I'm sure that a similar effect could be found by having teams from cooler countries like England (Max average high of 72F/20C) play in hot countries like Brazil. Teams from hot countries will have little problem playing in colder temperatures once they warmup but not vice versa.
