Jeez, I went through all this trouble translating Spanish on the main Jozy to Xerez thread, and people just ignore me. :(

Ives disagrees "The most anticipated match of the day isn't one you will find on TV when Jozy Altidore should make his debut for Xerez against Albacete"

Xerez won 1-0, still can't see if Jozy played

Momo scored in the 1st minute:

Albacete - Xerez Antoñito ha jugado con Momo dentro del área y tras regatear al meta rival, el canario ha puesto al líder por delante en el marcador cuando no se había llegado al minuto uno del partido.

I love Ives and everything, but I always assume the official team site is more accurate.

Albacete - Xerez Los manchegos siguen cercando el área del Xerez, pero de momento no están creando ocasiones claras.

Here's the link if you can actually read Spanish (instead of crudely undertsand it like me) (Warning: Other Segunda Liga Results).

Another goal by Xerez, this time by Calle. They don't seem to have any trouble scoring goals.

Calle ha recibido un balón largo a la espalda de la defensa y ha definido en el mano a mano ante Jonathan poniendo el dos a cero en el marcador.

For future reference, the town (and, hence, the team) is spelled XEREZ with a Z at the end, not and X. They don't make world-famous copy machines. You may also have seen it spelled JEREZ on some food items. But it's never XEREX. Sorry, but seeing that over and over just grinds my bones.

Sigh. I thought it was quite obvious in the other thread that he wasn't even going to be on the roster.

I read some report supposedly confirming that Jozy was already in Columbus as of Saturday, so perhaps him not even making Saturday's roster is a very good thing as it will allow him to work with the team a bit more and try to get past any jetlag before Wednesday. Or - less likely - his omission was some sort of gentleman's agreement between the Xerez coach & Bradley to allow him to fly over a couple days sooner.

Unfortunately he'll more or less lose most of week of working with his new team due to Wednesday night's game so it might (understandably) hurt his chances for being in next Sunday's game against U.D. Salamanca. I'm sure people will already start calling for Xerez's coach to be fired if he's not already starting next weekend, but I wouldn't really expect much of anything until the Cordoba game a week later, when he's had the chance to work with his new team for a good week and a half.
