Good awareness on the goal to dish it back to the open man.

I seriously think that this kid will end up on the MNT one day, producing while he's there too.

I know he got subbed off a couple of times at half in the U20 WC, but he showed flashes of his skill level. 5 years from now, we will look back at the 2013 team, and say "oh, Gil, Yedlin, Hernandez, and O'Neill" were all on this team.

All he needs is playing time with Monterrey and he'll get his shot.

Alonso started and played the full 90 in Monterrey's 1-1 Copa MX draw against second division Correcaminos.

"...US U-20 World Cup striker Alonso Hernandez continued his gradual integration into Monterrey’s first team on Wednesday, going 72 minutes in Los Rayados’ 2-0 home win over Altamira in the Copa MX.
Hernandez featured on the right side of the attack, pressing the ball high up the field as Monterrey dominated the game. The El Paso, Texas, native forced a solid save from the Atlamira ‘keeper in the 61st with a shot from outside the penalty area in his second start in the Copa MX this season...."

"Former US Under-20 international Alonso Hernandez was a key figure in Monterrey’s 1-0 win over Puebla on Tuesday in the Copa MX.

The 19-year-old attacker picked the ball up just outside the penalty area, skipped past two opposition defenders and played a reverse pass to send Luis Guillermo Madrigal through to score the winner three minutes after halftime.
Hernandez was heavily involved in the No. 10 role, with Los Rayados dominating after Puebla – who were without DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco Fiscal – had Rodrigo Iñigo sent off one minute before halftime.

The only blotch for Hernandez was a high tackle in the 29th, for which he was lucky not to get a red card. The result guarantees Monterrey a place in the knockout stages of the Copa MX."

Hernandez went the distance for the Monterrey U-20s in a 6-1 win against 6-1 win against Cruz Azul to open the Clausura. He is not credited with any of the goals.

Hernandez was not included on the 23 man roster that Monterrey sent to Morocco for the Club World Cup last month.

Almost with an early goal but a defender barely manager to block it before the ball went in. He should be playing as a CAM instead of a CF.

Hernandez was an unused sub for Monterrey as they kicked off the 2014 Apertura last night.

During the 2014 Clausura he made 2 starts and 2 substitute appearances in the Copa MX. He also scored 3 goals in 11 starts for the Monterrey U-20s. He picked 6 yellow cards and 1 red card with the U-20s.

I don't know much about Monterrey's current roster, but it seems like he's banging his head against Mexico's glass ceiling. With the international talent they bring in at the attacking positions, breaking into the first team is awfully hard.

Hernandez went the distance in Monterrey's 5-1 road win against Correcaminos UAT in the Copa MX on July 30th. He was not in the squad for the rematch this week.

He has not dressed for the first team in Liga MX play since the season opener. He was subbed on in the 57th minute and scored a goal for the U-20s in their 2-1 road win against Veracruz yesterday.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Center back Michael Orozco returned to the Puebla starting lineup on Wednesday ... in Group 5 of the Copa MX.... Finally, in Group 2, US U-23 international Alonso Hernandez came on for the last 19 minutes of Monterrey’s 0-0 tie on the road against Atlético San Luis, with Los Rayados in second place on five points.
