I, along with LARS, will remind the Goats whose house it is. That is, if the great TequilaJoal pulls my Galaxy membership.

Dashiel- I see the title of this thread and I think you just came up with the best name for that team:

    Almost Chivas

I hope you realize there are only 4 instances when you get to remind Chivas that the stadium is the Gs home.

2 Chivas @ Galaxy games.......then and there you can do all the reminding you want.

2 Galaxy @ Chivas games.......when the stadium will be full of more Chivas fans than G fans. So while being out numbered I don't see how we are going to remind anybody of anything.

And that's it. No other chances really to remind Chivas of whose home it is. Unless you plan on buying tickets for the Chivas games and telling them at their home games.

    Everybody just get over it.
    Quit crying
    Quit bitching

If you want to do something, then become a more vocal and visible G's supporter. Put some positive energy into being a galaxy fan. Not wasting all your energy just being a Chivas hater.

Um I think the stadium, in fact EVERY stadium will have more Chivas fans then home fans st EVERy game. That's their owner's plan thus Chivas USA not Los Angeles Goats. At first I thought these Goats were gonna be a really bad team and lose their popularity, but with Ramon Ramirez it seems like they are serious about being a quality team. So if thy are called Chivas, they are actually good, and they have Mr. Ramirez, the fans of teh Gudalajarian Goats will cheer for this Almost CHivas team wherever they go. Now whether or not this will be good or bad for this league I will not say, for dear of getting another bad reputation point. At least it'll bring money.

Okay, only 4 times. Well, maybe just 2 when G's are the home team, if they do outdraw the Goats fans. Whatever, just bring it. More games to watch and more money for the league and AEG. If it works, fine; if not, oh well.

After my last Gal's home game (July 4th), something struck me. I never really thought about how many people there were Galaxy fans, and how many were just happy soccer fans. Thinking about these Chivas games, we're really going to have to get people to come out FOR THE GALAXY, not just to support MLS, or what have you. No more BS with people coming in Chelsea jerseys to the games, etc.

Most people at the Rose Bowl seemed to be just people happy to see a soccer game on a nice weekend. At the HDc it seems liek teh Galaxy has a decent following, but I am sure many still come just cuz its the only soccer in town. We'll see what kinds of fans the Almost Goats get. Doesn't seem like they have too many fans on this board, I'll tell you that. Their forum might be nonstop trolling all next season :) I know you'll find me in there....

On the plus side: 2 "away" games a year with zero travel stress, whereas East Coast and Mid-West teams are facing one or two more cross-country trips a year. I can't locate it now, but I remember last year seeing stats showing that the number of miles travelled by LAG road warriors was ridiculously greater than for some of the eastern and central squads. This begins to offset the material advantage that the East Coast teams have with the traditionally easier travel schedules.

You should try attending a match that isn't full of people coming to see fireworks.

    Near Washington DC -

I think that this is going to be great for creating some real "Galaxy Fans" as opposed to just simple soccer fans, or more accurately, converting the 'less fanatic'. I think that this rivalry is going to be good for MLS, but in particular for LA soccer.

I know it's a pain in the sense that you'll have to share HDC and that for MLS the footprint issue is not helped, but from a passion standpoint, I think this is going to do wonders for the local fan base, and perhaps make it a more college-footabll (or European footy) type atmosphere .

Will there be any better time than the first Galaxy-Almost Goats match next season to 'take a friend'? (Okay, make the 2nd, 3rd and 4th matches)...this is going to be fun! It could make the Galaxy-NoCal matchup look like recess!

It'll only be great for us if the Goats don't become ultra popular while the Galaxy "non-hardcore" fanbase dwindles. If the Galaxy fanbase stays about teh same while the Almost Goats get their own fans, it'll be great.

    Almost Chivas....BRILLIANT!

It's tough, living in San Francisco. But I could tell you the same thing about any of the HDC-based Galaxy home games I've been to:

    Always a good crowd
    Always a good environment
    Always a lot of energy
Always a lot of people who are big soccer fans, maybe big MLS fans, but maybe not Galaxy fans.

I'm not talking about the supporters sections, or the kids, or the die-hards. I'm talking about parents up in the cheap seats who brought their family who was visiting from out of town. I think this will increase our visibility as a credit to Los Angeles. And I think it will make peoples fan-affiliations more decisive. Which can be a good thing.

AND BTW for those people who you think will come out to boo Chivas just because they hate Chivas of Guadalajara: Did these people ever come out for a Chivas friendly in the U.S. against an American team? From what I hear its usually all nasty Chivas fans intimidating all 10 fans cheering for teh home team.
