Touch, balance, good feet and a strong finish on his weaker foot. Nice Great anticipation to pick up on the loose pass too.
Haha, from the first second and a half of that video I had no idea what language the announcer was speaking. Nice goal!
Haji comes off the bench in the 64th minute against PNE. Holmes also subbed on in the 69th. PNE took a 1-0 lead in the 72nd minute on a header from six inches out. Wright looked to have a spectacular equalizer in the 84th, but it was waved off as a loose ball seemed to hit his arm just before he got off the half volley that he roofed from about 10 yards. Bummer as it was a good finish. Coventry lose 1-0.
Wright just scored likely winner right on goal line in stoppage time. Coventry up a man as Haji drew 2nd yellow. Coventry down 2-0 but scored 3 unanswered
The 2nd yellow for Luton Town didn't come till the 90th minute and Haji's winner was in 2nd minute of stoppage time. He deserved that winner as was active all game and should have had a few assists with some of his quality crosses. To say Coventry needed that comeback win is an understatement but should get them out of relegation zone and hopefully sparks a turnaround

His scoring streak continues, with him getting the 2nd goal in a 3-0 win over Boro. That's Coventry's first away win of the season, as their traditional slow start is slowly replaced by wins. Up to 13th now
Anyone have a video of the assist? here’s the goal: Boro down to 10 men and Coventry start to pull away. Haji makes in 2-0. Here is his goal.Coventry now up 3-0 (assisted by Haji) https://t.co/ilaNARGjqP— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) November 2, 2024
One of the most underrated aspects of wright’s game is his passing. I want to say he racked up nearly double digits in all competitions last season. He’s built for the Championship. Dude is a quality player.
Which is why they usually play him wide on the left. He can pass, which is essential for a wide player, and though is isn't a real #9 he's built like one, making him very hard to deal with when he comes inside to attack balls from the right. What's interesting is that they've switched back to Robbins' preferred 3-4-1-2 formation with Haji partnering Simms or, yesterday, Thomas-Asante who are out-and-out #9s up top. That implies Haji as the more mobile and therefore deeper of the front 2, where he gets to make passes and link with the CAM, the #8 and the wing backs. It's a potentially intersting development if they stick with it
If he keeps going like he is at the moment, he won't be in the Championship for long: either they get promoted or, with his contract up in July 2027, he gets sold in the summer. FWIW I'd like to see him on the continent again, preferably at the likes of PSV or Porto. Edit: I mean, Haji replaced Gyokeres at Coventry and he's at Sporting, with a buyout clause. An £85million buyout clause.
Stats time. Do we know any american forward that have 5 consistent years over 10 goals in europe/mls? Okay. It's chris wondo. Just mls. Not sure in europe.
TECHNICALLY, he only did it 3 years in a row in Europe: Fulham 10/11, Fulham 11/12, Spurs 12/13. He broke the streak during his first half-season in MLS (2013 - just one goal), but he did pick it back up in 2014 with 17 goals and had 10+ goal seasons until his final season (and, TBF, he only made 17 appearances that year due to injury / bum ticker).
True but gotta give him a tad more credit as he played in the best league in the world which carries more weight than say Turkey or the Championship obviously. Though, the key is Haji is consistently scoring 15 goals a season which is nothing to sneeze at.
