Regardless, historically our players are mainly in the Championship not because the money is so great, but just because they're not good enough to play in better leagues. Trying to make the false point that they are stuck there because of the money is cope. I don't think Wright or Sargent would be scoring much in Ligue 1 or the Portuguese leagues.
Portugal has first of all to make up a large difference with the Eredivisie to get spot 6, let alone think about spot 5.
From all appearances Coventry fans would share that opinion. They seem to be very happy with Haji, but regard Gyokeres as a generational talent. Given his numbers - 43 goals and 17 assists in 116 games for them and 43 goals and 18 assists in 53 games for Sporting - they're probably right. Interestingly, Gyokeres and Haji are almost the same age and, like Haji, Gyokeres spent the years 18-23 wandering from country to country and club to club before breakthrough performances in a lesser league (Coventry for him, Sonderjyske and Antalya for Haji)
Mark Robins probably has a lot do with their development... he seems to get a lot out of attacking players.
Wright and Coventry down 1-0 at HT courtesy of a George Tanner wonder strike at the top of the 18 in stoppage time. Coventry (and Wright) have seen very little of the ball in the 1st half. Bristol City has controlled the ball and stifled Coventry defensively forcing most of the play backwards, away from goal.
FT 1-1 Coventry rescue a point on the road in the 75th minute. Wright not involved other than little scrum that occurred after the goal was scored. Coventry had to dig for that point. It was hard earned as Bristol City was in command most of the match. Wirght had an average night. Nothing too spectacular. Bristol City did well to keep him away from goal. He did have a big chance after a nice little move in the box freed him some space but he hit the side netting with the shot.
Off the bench around the hour mark: Haji replaces Joel, who has taken a knock. 🔁 pic.twitter.com/7UB5GhTGWo— Coventry City (@Coventry_City) September 14, 2024 HAJI HITS THE POST! 😩🟡 1-1 🐘 [74']— Coventry City (@Coventry_City) September 14, 2024 Ended 1-1.
Coventry took Spurs to injury time but lost 2-1, giving up a goal at 88 and at 90+2. Wright played LW and came off at 71, after Coventry had scored, before Spurs scored their two goals.
What all does Haji need to work on this season or achieve in order to get a move to a top 4 league come next summer?

By this time last year, he had only 1 goal and 3 assists. This year he has 2 goals. It took him a while to catch fire. I'm sure he'll be scoring again soon.
And for the team: scoring 6 goals and conceding 8 in the first 6 games of the season is poor. Then again Coventry tend to start the season pretty and finish very strongly. Right now they're 19th out of 24 teams, just 1 point ahead of the drop zone; last season they were 18th and they were 19th after 7 games the season before. They made the FA Cup semi-finals last season, narrowly missing the playoffs, and made the playoff final the season before. It is an underwhelming start, but let's see where they are come December
Missed the match but it sounds like he was dominant but at times he'd miss an easy pass. Haji has the talent to do this game in and game out I hope it starts clicking because when he's on it's fun to watch.
The goal: First Coventry goal for Haji Wright since late August. #USMNT https://t.co/bQG8Vf8EFZ— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) October 1, 2024
