Sunday results are in. More detailed information after the round is totally complete tomorrow:

    Landskrona 4
    Trelleborg 0

    Kalmar 0
    Örebro 1

    AIK 0
    Örgryte 3

It's probably just as well that the stands were closed for the AIK match as they end 24 consecutive seasons of Allsvenskan football with a weak 3-0 loss. AIK was last relegated out of the Allsvenskan in 1979, spent the 1980 season in what was then called Division 2, and returned to the Allsvenskan in 1981, where they remain, until a week from today, when the 2 automatically relegated sides, AIK and Trelleborg meet each other in their final Allsvenskan matches.

Kalmar's loss opens the door for Djurgården, who can move into the final Royal League slot with a win tomorrow against Sundsvall.

    bye bye AIK.

lets just hope for a Bajen loss and a DIF win tomorrow.

Funny thing is, if AIK would have won, they would be out of the automatic relegation zone now most likely. oops.

The door is wide open for DIF. Kalmar really had to have this game, at home, against a team in a fight to avoid relegation, or the playoff, and they gag it up. So, now they have to go to Hammarby next week to close the season, and DIF has a (comparitively) easier match home agianst Helsingborg.

I think the purists might be able to rest easy, DIF probably snatches the position away from Kalmar.

A bit sad, though, if that would be. Kalmar seems to be just about the only top club that has shown any enthusiasm for playing Royal League. Which, imho, makes them deserve a spot.

And now the finger-pointing begins at AIK...

First the ugly...death threats to players, coaches, and staff have been discovered on a website belonging to one of the AIK "supporters groups". Swedish police are investigating, and Sanny Åslund, a vice-director who has been a target for fan anger most of the season, has been under police protection at certain points recently.

All 8 AIK board members have sent word that they will not be seeking re-election at the annual meeting for the club, being held tonight in Stockholm. Tomorrow, meetings will be held to determing the future of Åslund, and AIK coach Patrik Englund. Åslund has not indicated that he wants to come back, saying only that he needs to "think about it". Patrik Englund has stated that he would like to come back. A couple of other people who could be on the chopping block are Lennart Johansson, who is director of football operations at the club, along with being president of UEFA, and Peter Kisfaludy, director of sport. Johansson has said he'd serve again if asked, but has recommended that someone else take the job. Kisfaludy would like to stay on, but faces criticism for allowing both AIK football, and AIK hockey to fall out of the top division on his watch, with AIK hockey being in such bad shape that some journalists say it could take up to 10 years to get back to the Elite League.

A lot going on behind the scenes at AIK, and the next week or two will probably go a long way in determining how long AIK is away from the Allsvenskan.

Maybe this can work out for AIK like it did for DIF...

Personally, i think the main contributer to DIF's league positions of the last few seasons was the last relegation. A season in Superettan getting rid of the old players and in with the new young ones did a world of good.

Not as well as their fans would have hoped....

Next-to-last round is complete, and everything is set up for the run to the finish on Saturday:

    Landskrona BoIS 4 (Asare 35, 44, Amuneke 62, Magro 66)
Trelleborgs FF 0 (Sloth sent off, 58)
    Att: 4,776

    Kalmar FF 0
    Örebro SK 1 (Danielson 33)
    Att: 5,515

AIK 0 (Nordin sent off, 47)
    Örgryte IS 3 (Guará 32,39,58)
Att- 0 (Stands closed for disciplinary reasons)

    IFK Göteborg 1 (Ijeh 60)
    Malmö FF 2 (Abelsson 17, Olsson 34)
    Att: 38,983

    IF Elfsborg 0
    Hammarby 1 (Runström 36)
    Att: 6,008

    Helsingborgs IF 1 (Graulund 66)
    Halmstads BK 2 (Rosenberg 16,23)
    Att: 13,530

    GIF Sundsvall 0
    Djurgårdens IF 1 (Johansson 85)
    Att- 6,158

So...Halmstad leads Malmö right now on goal difference. Both at 49 points, and Halmstad has a differential of +26 to Malmö's +22.

So, Halmstad wins the championship with...
    - a win vs. Göteborg, and a Malmö loss or draw to Elfsborg.
    - a win, and a Malmö win by Halmstads margin + 4 goals or less, as long as Malmö scores fewer than 9 goals (i.e if Halmstad wins 1-0, Malmö can win by 5-0, and still not overtake Halmstad)
    - a draw, and a Malmö loss or draw
    - a loss by less than 7 goals to Göteborg, and a Malmö loss

    Malmö wins the championship with...
    - a win or draw vs. Elfsborg, and a Halmstad loss by less than 7 goals over Malmö's margin of victory
    - a win by more than 5 goals over Halmstad's winning margin (i.e., if Halmstad wins by 1, Malmö needs a 6-goal victory, since Halmstad has scored more goals to begin with)

Göteborg can only win the championship with a win of more than 7 goals over Halmstad, and a Malmö loss by 2 goals or more. Realistically, it's coming down to Halmstad and Malmö.

Djurgården is now in the final Royal League spot with 38 points. Kalmar and Hammarby have 37 points (and play each other the final round). Kalmar has a goal differential of +5, Kalmar is at +6, and Hammarby at +3. So:

Djurgården clinches a Royal League spot with a...
    - win
    - draw and a Kalmar/Hammarby draw

    Kalmar clinches with...
    - A win, and a Djurgården loss or draw
    - A draw, and a Djurgården loss

    Hammarby clinches with...
    - a win, and a Djurgården loss or draw.

The playoff spot comes down to one game: Sundsvall (29 points) at Örgryte (28 points). Winner stays in the Allsvenskan, loser has to play against Assyriska for the spot. If it ends in a draw, Sundsvall is safe, Örgryte is in the playoff.

The final round in full. All games on Saturday, with a 1:30pm kickoff time:

    Helsingborg at Djurgården
    Kalmar at Hammarby
    Sundsvall at Örgryte
    AIK at Trelleborg
    Elfsborg at Malmö
    Göteborg at Halmstad
    Landskrona at Örebro

An exciting year in Allsvenskan for sure! I was heartbroken when I saw the score line in the Göteborg v. Malmö tilt...still makes for exciting fotboll. It is also refreshing to see Djurgårdens bounce back as they did.

I'm sure the SFF is thrilled. Last matchday of the season, and the only match with absolutly nothing on the line is Trelleborg-AIK, and those two teams are already relegated, and locked into their positions. Every other match will have an impact on the championsip, the Royal League, playoffs, or final positioning/prize money. I don't think it could have worked out much better for them.

it is a fantastic end to the season.

DIF have crawled thier way up the table and are holding onto the final royal league slot right now, although they need to get a result and help, at very least, to clinch it, since the two teams right behind are playing each other (oh the luck of that!).

funny to see AIK going down although it will be differant next season without the DIF/hammarby/AIK stkhlm trio.

hi all, tnx for the news guys. It's impossible to read news about the Allsvenskan from Israel, so tnx again.

can any1 say more about the Malmo's big win? Isn't it wierd that 2 defenders scored? Is Bosse going to quit?
An ironic situation may occur if Marcus Rosenberg will shot a penalty kick in the last minute which may decide who will take the gold...

And another word about AIK- Where will Ishizeki go? I think he should do like Kim Kallstrom did, and move to another club in the top league (*cough MFF *cough).

Bosse Johansson will step down as coach of IFK Göteborg, with his last match being the Swedish Cup final against Djurgården on November 6th. His contract was up at the end of the season anyway, however, media articles on the story claim that the decision was reached well before IFK were practically knocked out of the title race. No replacment has yet been named, but media speculation is focusing on a couple of names:

    - Arne Erlandsen, supposedly the chioice of the board. He's currently in charge of Norweigan side Lilleström, but is leaving at the end of the season.

    - Fan support seems to be behind Torbjörn Nilsson, who most recently was working with the Swedish u-21 national team.

Other names being mentioned are Jan Jönsson, who despite being fired by Landksrona during the season, seems to be one of the hotter names among coaches in Sweden, and Anders Linderoth, who is with Hammarby.

As far as AIK goes, they've got a lot to do to get the back office in order. Sanny Åslund is out as the vice-director of the club, and there is still no word yet on wether or not Patrik Englund will come back as coach. Speculation is that Ishizhaki, along with several other players, will be gone for the simple reason that they make too much. There has been no official word yet though, and there probably won't be for a while.
