You heard it here first....that's right the World Class Prestigious Club our MLS allstars will be playing is no other than....... CHIVAS of Mexico I guess Im gonna start voting for DC United, SJ and KC players on the MLS website.
btw if anyone is interested Im selling both my AllStar game tickets from my season seats, there s no way in hell Im going to see that shite!. No wonder the logo was a bit on the ethnic side.
Why are people taking such offense at this? Please provide a LEGITIMATE reason for me to be disgusted at this All-Star arrangement.
Because it's being played in LA. It'll sell out, that's for sure. Chivas is easily the most popular soccer team in LA. But it's not going to be a pro-MLS crowd. And perhaps you disagree on this point but I don't think it's much of an "honor" to be elected to play in a match where you're gonna be constantly booed. This should be an MLS-love-fest but I suspect the reality on game-day will be quite the opposite. Frankly, this is a disgrace.
HERES AN IDEA... FOR ALL OF YOU GALAXY SEASON SEAT HOLDERS THAT HAVE TICKETS TO THE ALLSTAR GAME... DON'T EVEN SELL THEM... THAT WOULD CREATE MANY EMPTY SEATS AND HOPEFULLY PROVIDE A MESSAGE TO MLS WHAT A BULL*************** IDEA THIS IS you have got to be ***************ting me... i'd imagine that even if anyone was also a MFL fan they'd be mad about this too becuse this is HARDLY a prestigious team... thats FALSE ADVERTISING!...THIS IS LIKE MLS SLAPPING ITS SELF IN THE FACE!!!!!!
You know, I like this idea, as an MLS fan even if it means getting killed my the MFL ALL Stars every year. I think it would be interesting to watch.
What is wrong with this match-up? To me it is far more interesting than East vs. West where the players have ZERO incentive to play the game. At least here there will be a little pride on the line and the guys might take it somewhat seriously. Also, what is wrong with MLS forging ties with its neighbors to the South? If our region ever hopes to have the quality of soccer found in Europe it is going to happen because the U.S. and Mexico make it happen. I, for one, will watch with interest.
Because MLS said it would be against an prestigious international club. With the likes of Juventus, Manu, Celtic and others playing in the US this summer most fans expected it would be one of these European teams and are instead getting a team that nobody, who doesn't have Mexican blood, has any interest in.
Chivas = US marketing rights owned by...you guessed it, AEG. Big European club = Million-dollar plus appearance fees LA stadium capacity = 27,000 The math here isn't hard, peoples.
Hala, do you have a source on this? I thought I had heard the same thing, but I checked with BigSoccer's resident Chivas expert, VS, who tells me its not so. I know AEG has the US marketing rights to El Tri, but I have never been able to run down the Chivas angle. And, VS is pretty reliable when it comes to all things Chivas.
If we can get a 50-50 crowd in there, I think it's a great idea. I know it's a fairly big "if", but it ain't impossible.
