I just found out that James Earl Jones is black too! I would hear him doing voiceovers in commercials, and the other day I saw him in a movie. I just couldn't believe my eyes! Next, someone will tell me that Bryant Gumbel is black too.

On a related note, I too was surprised to see Bretos and Hopkins live at the stadium, as opposed to in studio. Although, with the proximity of the stadium to their studios, I guess it makes sense. For the record, I too think the guy who started this thread is a tool.

On a more serious note, Hopkins had a good game last night as "color" guy, much better than Bretos as play by play IMO. Hopkins knows his MLS (or at least his Galaxy), whereas Max sort of fakes it (to be more precise, knows it okay, but not particularly well). They probably won't be in Columbus next week, but back in studio, and it'll probably be Bretos solo.
Agreed. Doesn't wanna make me go out an sing AH's praises, cuz he butchers the Bundesliga games solo, but he does put Max to shame regarding MLS knowledge.
If anyone ever saw it, Hopkins used to work for ESPN, and he was the sideline announcer for BA's 1st game against the Aussies. Yeesh, felt bad for the guy. SportBoy, you don't surprise me one bit. Typical Boston....
Not only black footballers, but now there are even a few black fans trickling into the stands -- the "worst nightmares" of the likes of SportBoy. Hopkins even worked a WUSA game earlier this year with a coach (Anson Dorrance, maybe) as commentator and did a decent job. All I have to say is -- blame Bryant Gumbel for unleashing onto the world the "black guys who speak standard English" conspiracy now plauging the earth, of which Hopkins is clearly a major part. Only God knows what havoc and destruction it will wreak on us all.

You Know if he'd said surprised instead of "shocked" he probably wouldn't be getting slammed. But I think he was shocked. And is shocked at the response he's been getting here. Maybe he'll learn a lesson from this. Racism=ignorance.
