    Subs to be used:
After half-time - Varga (for Biro)
After 70 minutes - Bene (for Albert)

Varga enters after the break, with the aim of providing good attacking impetus down the left side when feasible. Bene comes on after 70 minutes to try to make use of the inside and outside right channels.

    French line-up:

    Subs to be used:

    Sub to be used:
After half-time - Joya for Ortiz

    Italian line-up:
    Subs to be used:
After half-time - Zenga for Zoff
After 70 minutes - Conti for Boniperti

After the substitution on 70 minutes a 4-3-3 shape will be taken, with Conti playing from 'extreme right' and Meazza cutting in from a position wide on the left in attack. Totti holds his position a bit more and drops back in alongside Rivera, while Tardelli holds in front of the defence, to avoid 'surprises'.

Manager comments relating to first half and general tactics:
*General note from PDG1978 - typically I will be trying to separate out any tactical instructions from 'pro-team propaganda' in any private messages, but this above is a good example where I've retained a few positive comments about players, thinking they were informative about roles and attributes and were part of the description about how the team would try to play.

@PDG1978 I can't see these draws (bolded teams):
    - Spain vs UK
    - Ben-A vs Argentina-B.
    - Benelux-B vs Arg-A.

Neither could thebigman (he told me by PM).

So to confirm poetgooner's selections I'll copy and paste what I told thebigman in here too:

"poetgooner's Spain team to play your British Isles-A team (like I said you can't vote on this one or the Hungary vs France-B game though): 4-3-3
Casillas; Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Camacho; Busquets; Xavi, Iniesta; Amancio, Raul, Gento

His Argentina-B team to play Benelux-A: (4-2-3-1 with Moreno slightly deeper than Messi/Loustau)
Fillol, Zanetti, Ruggeri, Passarella, Marzolini; Rossi, Monti; Messi, Moreno, Loustau; Kempes

His Benelux-B team to play Argentina-A: (also 4-2-3-1 with Bergkamp shown a bit deeper than the wingers)
Pfaff; Suurbier, Kompany, F.De Boer, Krol; Neeskens, Van Hanegem; Robben, Bergkamp, Hazard; Van Basten"

He had used an app that allows player images to be inserted into football formations. I could see them though, and I can also see them in here after I copied and pasted them (I checked I could do so with a preview before finally submitting the posts).

Sorry I think I inserted a 'Ceefax' image in there too (I'd also tested that with a preview and Big Soccer obviously remembered and thought I might still want to post it!).

I'll leave it there, then people can confirm if they can't see that actually - I am thinking of using it for the 'results service' when I post the scores and goalscorers etc after the votes.

I want to keep this thread mainly on track of course so it is easy to navigate, so most discussion should take place in the main thread, but even so I thought it was worth coming back to this (and it's very much on topic for this thread, just like your query about it was - I see for sure why you posted it directly in this thread), to see if quoting poetgooner directly might solve the issue:
If not the final thing I could try I guess would be saving them on my hard drive and posting as attachments, or maybe asking poet to post saved versions in the PM (if he doesn't already, but I assume not) so that then I could try to quote him in here or even try copying and pasting those versions again. I'm thinking/hoping something might work, so that he could continue showing his line-ups like that for future matches.

Ah, ok, doing it like that doesn't make them visible in this thread, but let me know if at least you can see them when you click on the attachments (I can, but I could already see them the other way of course).

    Spanish line-up:

    Subs to be used:
After half-time - Panizo for Del Sol (switching to play as a left inside midfielder, with Samitier moving to the right midfield position and tries to help make use of space down the right wing)

After 70 minutes - Tostao for Rivelino (changing system to a Brazilian magic square that is narrow on the left to allow Socrates complete freedom, with Pele becoming a link between midfield and attack behind Tostao, Roberto Carlos playing more like a winger and Zito dropping back to cover)

    Subs to be used:
After half-time - Elkjaer for Nordahl
After 70 minutes - Bohinen for Litmanen

Elkjaer enters at half-time to play a more mobile centre-forward role. Bohinen joins Michael Laudrup in midfield after 70 minutes to play a similar role to him and aim to combine with him in helping the team string together ball-retaining passing moves if already holding a good result, or supplying Elkajer and the wide players with precise and efficient passes after working the ball individually or collectively into good positions to do it from as smoothly as possible.
