I'll try to update it, though I don't know all the sites: Code: 1. Abby Wambach USA 160 2. Mia Hamm USA 158 3. Christine Sinclair CAN 145 4. Kristine Lilly USA 130 5. Birgit Prinz GER 128 6. Sorry for any associated flaws.[/quote] Marta 80 Goals (72 Matches) She just pretty much played her first friendly since the Olympics in which she was subbing for U20s . Marta career stats will never really matter, because she isn't afforded a club schedule like the USA and enjoys a $600 a month subsidy from CBF (thieves ). The subsidy may have changed since the Santos days, but I doubt. 5 of the top 10 are USA players. If Sermanni stops playing around, Press will be in the top 10 by the end of her career. Morgan is already. Sydney won't because she's too similar to Morgan. 7 of the top 10 could be from the USA. Delie is on pace but France is too disorganized at the forward position for her to excel to her late 20s. FIFA should throw international stats out the window when it comes to FIFA POY and the USA. I think they did a good job when Marta was at her peak, given she never had any REAL caps but she was putting up crazy numbers in Sweden which indicated she was something special. That's why I'd have Press on the ballet for her 2012-2013 seasons in Sweden alone. Any other national team, she wouldn't be playing this recorded non-season with Fullbach. I like what Rick said at equalizer, any other coach and federation would just be a bit curious in seeing Morgan and Press, given they are the same age based on a couple of months, on the pitch together in a non-qualifying year and would develop an attack which featured her skill sets like they have done with Wambach (sets and headers) and Morgan (ramping up the direct attack). Again, I dont blame Sermanni. He can do his thing, but he has to play in the established system. The last thing he needs is Solo doing interviews on the team bus and saying, we need a new coach each cycle to keep it fresh. Hey Hope, how about a new guardian every cycle? You have to wonder about her sometimes.
Honestly, I think the ranking of "Top scorers" doesn't mean anything... The important thing to me is the ratio (from a certain number of caps, of course, let's say 50). Mia Hamm 158 goals ? But in 275 (!! ) caps, that is a ratio of 0,57. Kristine Lilly ? 130 goals ? But in 352 (!!! ) caps, that is a ratio of 0,37 only. So, here is what I established, a ranking by ratio : (Idid my best to check the numbers) 1. Marta 82 / 73 - 1,12 2. Vignotto : 97/95 - 1,02 3. Feelting 116/120 - 0,97 4.Mohr 83/104 - 0,80 5. Delie 45 / 57 - 0,79 6. Wambach 160 / 207 - 0,77 7. Sinclair 145 / 198 - 0,73 8.Pichon 81 / 112- 0,72 9.Sun Wen 106 / 152 - 0,70 - Morace 94/135 - 0,70 - Modice 73/104 - 0,70 12.Akers 105 / 153 - 0,69 13.Morgan 44 / 68 - 0,65 14.Prinz 128 / 214 - 0,60 15.Hamm 158 / 275 - 0,57 16.Han Duan 101/188 - 0,54 - Panico 97/179 - 0,54 18. Milbrett 100/204 - 0,49 19.Schelin 52/120 - 0,43 - Sawa 81/187 - 0,43 20.Lilly 130/352 - 0,37
You can get all her goals and almost all her caps from the link below. It's as of the Cyprus Cup. She also scored in their latest match (3-1 win over Austria in April). http://www.rsssf.com/tablesi/ital-wom-intres-det.html
That fails to take into account how many of those 100 goal scorers were playing on the same team. When 4 (or 5 depending how many years you talk about) different players on the same team at the same time it means the wealth is being spread out pretty well. Other than those 5 US players that were going simultaneously everyone else is pretty much the undisputed goal scorer for their team. If the ball were going to Mia Hamm as often as it is going to most of the people on that list for scoring opportunities I would bet she would have had a much higher total.
