Seriously, is 5 all we can get after nearly 2 weeks? Lets start at six unless a few sign up within the next 24 hours.

I'll see if I can get two or three out of the woodwork, probably over the weekend. Been studying for exams and had no time to do much else the last week or two, but thankfully the last one is today.

Join in Hoop, we know you're a big fan of the NT despite the players playing in heathen leagues.

Real fans go to international tournaments as well, sing Olé, Olé, Olé, with their great big inflatable hammers and get thrashed with the rest of the Oirish.

How to spot the difference is that real fans will 'BOO' whereas plastic fans will sing 'You'll never beat the Oirish' ad nauseum.

Hoop is just joshing with us all.

    OLE!!!!!

    1. We get a list of participating names/posters.

    2. Somebody sorts the names in an order. Key rule: nobody complains about the order, since it is impossible to prove on the internet that it was done randomly, so we just go with what is given. It also evens out (explained in the next point).

    3. The name at the top of the list picks first, then the one below them, and so on - just like an NFL draft. However unlike an NFL a 'snake draft' takes reverse order on even rounds, so the first team to pick in the first round are the last to pick in the second round, then the first in the third, last in the fourth, etc. Same for all the teams in the middle - second last in the first is second in round two, second last in round three, second in round four, etc.

    4. After we reach either 11 rounds for a full team, or maybe a few extra subs as well, we are done. At this stage either we 'rank' the other teams around us with whomever collectively gets the highest rank winning, or we do a 'tournament' format and send in tactics to a panel us (typically three) judges who decide who they think would win. I think we will be doing the 'collective voting' method here, since we are struggling to get enough participants, never mind judges.

    5. Worth mentioning, you can choose players from any position in any round, but your team will want to make sense by the end of it all. You can take a keeper in the first or last round or any in between, but you must take a keeper at some stage. You also don't want to wind up with 6 wingers, 3 strikers, a CB and no other outfield players.

Sometimes these take a long time, but with just 8 or so participants I would imagine this one will run along quickly enough. You can learn a huge amount about players you mightn't have even heard of before in a draft.

Here is an example, the Man Utd draft we had a few years ago:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309625&highlight=draft

The biggest issue normally with these drafts is people being slow/not around to make their picks. We should establish the 24 hour rule. If you don't make your pick within 24 hours, then the next person in line gets to go and so on.

It might not actually be a bad idea for people to say when is best for them to draft (for the even rounds) and to then set timeslots as a result. This way, at worst, the longest an odd-numbered round would take would be 1-2 days (depending on how we lay out the timeslots). Then we can just bring in the 12-24 hour rule for even rounds.

A draft only has to run out of steam once, and it is more likely than not to die on it's ass very fast.

Yes the 24 hour rule is perhaps a bit long. Maybe 12 hours instead.

So are we ready to get started?

I've noticed people don't show up here often and we are in no rush, I suggest we do 48 hours per pick with one rule, you must after you make your selection either PM or E-mail the following team/selector.

We could give each other's e-mails address and do it that way since I'd assume everybody checks e-mails a few times a day.

    Updated list.

Would love to get 10 but 8 would do. Six is a bit small but that should work well also.

Ok lads I waited until now so more people might join, it looks a bit more alive around here in the fall anyway. Is everyone still onboard and does anyone else want to join?
