Round 10 Pool B (Replacing ineligible Santamaria!) Ricardo Carvalho (Portugal) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricardo_Carvalho He's also excellent defensively and on the ball (summary of what I originally wrote about Santamaria's qualities) and he's more up to speed with the modern game too!
@PDG1978 Santamaria is ineligible. He played more games for Uruguay than Spain. Plus he is iconic for Uruguay. But yeah, he is not eligible. http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/santamaria-intl.html
Pirri Spain Pool B Real Madrid's most complete midfielder/libero of all time was regarded as the 'Spanish Beckenbauer'. A captain who led by example: whether through his ferocious tackling, tenacious workrate, skilled passing or clutch goalscoring.
To complete my midfield, I need someone to sit in front of my defense. He doesn't need a lot of running power, but he does need intelligent positioning to protect the backline. Furthermore, he doesn't need to run forward since we already have a stacked front 4, and the support of Williem van Hanegem. In attack, his job is to unleash the fullbacks, and feed the front four. With this in mind, I have the perfect man for the job: Videos of his skills are aplenty. I like to focus on his unsung, but just as important, defensive prowess.
If it wasn't for the legend of Lev Yashin, imho, this man would be regarded as the greatest GK of all time. @babaorum
Michel Preud'homme Belgium Pool C One of the most consistent and talented goalkeepers from the 80's/90's, Preud'homme possessed amazing reflexes and agility.
