    According to that article I posted above, Werder pays €1.5m for the loan, and €2.3m of Pizarro's wages of €3.6m a year, the rest is paid by Chelsea.

    Excellent business, Herr Allofs. :D

    Since we have directly qualified for the CL, we should have a lot of money left for a midfielder (Borowski replacement), really don't know why we seem to be so stingy this summer.

    once again klaus allofs waves his magic stick.

    Great deal. What we needed was someone with experience and someone who knows how to win. We didn't spend much and we can invest even more money on a "Kracher " later (hoping we do well this season). All the other players we were linked with (maybe except oliveira) are young talents. We all know what Pizarro can do and with werder he will get many chances.

    The Second star will be on our shirts next year!

    Indeed, although I'd still like us to sign a defensively strong midfield allrounder. We now have enough depth on most positions to really challenge for the league, and do better in Europe.

    First XI:

    ==========Wiese===========
    Fritz=Mertesacker=Naldo=Boenisch
    =========Baumann==========
    ==Frings============Jensen==
    ==========Diego===========
    =====Rosenberg===Pizarro=====

    Second XI:

    =====Vander (Pellatz)======
    Pasanen=Prödl=Andersen=Tosic
    ====Vranjes (Niemeyer)=====
    Harnik=====Hunt (Husejinovic)
    =========Özil============
    ====Almeida===Sanogo=====

    Especially if you consider that most of our players are very versatile, and can play well on various positions.

    Our 'attacking trident' of Diego, Rosenberg and Pizarro looks particularly promising. :) Hope they'll gel fast, then it'll be difficult to stop them.

    Difficult to predict who'll be a starter in a few months, since all of our strikers have their strenghts, but I believe that Rosenberg is the most complete one of those we had already.

    All of our strikers should benefit from Pizarro's experience and guile. If he can find the form of his early Bremen years, he'll be one hell of a signing.

    Bah..I don't rate Sanogo highly..

    I still remember that awful miss in that rangers game! Could have saved the tie for us but he blew it!

    I also remember some really awful misses from him...his finishing is rather poor

    Sanogo had a very good first half of the season, but the break during the African Cup Of Nations made him lose his rhythm, he wasn't the same for us afterwards. Still, he looked rather promising in the pre-season test matches, that's why I expect him to do better this season.

    We now have some serious competition for the striker positions. Hopefully, that will be an additional motivation for our strikers to do well and fight for a starting place. Knowing that we'll most likely play up to 60 matches again this season, all of them should get a lot of playing time / opportunities to prove themselves.

    BTW about our DM problem..This should not have been an issue for us...but for some idiotic reason we sold Andreasen in January

    This had to be one of the most bone headed move done by Bremen in recent years.

    Why did we sell him? He had so much potential!

    It never worked out between him and Schaaf apparently, and he simply was not happy with being a sub, he wanted to get more playing time.

    Thought he had potential also, but it simply didn't work out.

    I know this is off topic, but am I the only one who can't access the main Werder forum?

    Everytime I click on the main forum it says "Site Under Maintenance"

    I haven't been able to access the forum for weeks!

    All of other club forums work except the Werder one...

    i'd have thought we'd buy another player after the bargain we got off pizza. can't really tell how well he will do at the moment, but i'm excited to see if he's still got some firepower left in him. he may have saved all the goals for chelsea to let explode for werder :p

    but i'm a bit curious now, where does harnik fit in the scheme of things?

    I think Harnik will now be a sub for the right midfielder position.

    So basically chelsea arent payin anything. Since u said we pay €1.5m for the loan and €2.3m worth of wages, which chelsea would normally pay €3.6m a year... isnt that a profit of €200,000 for chelsea??

    But one less player able to play for them.

    About Pizarro:
    Player in a form crisis. Typical Werder deal. :)
    Hopefully he finds his form back and the team
    can benefit from his experience.

    Bremen currently holds 6 strikers:

    Rosenberg
    Almeida
    Pizarro
    Sanogo
    Harnik
    Hunt

    Is someone going to leave?
    I personally think Bremen should have strengthened their defense. They could have asked Chelsea to loan Ivanovic instead of Pizarro whom they don't really need.

    Hunt and Harnik usually play in midfield...

    I know hunt plays in midfield but I didn't know Harink does. Maybe I'll start watching more Bremen games to get a chance to see the younger players.;)

    I think the Pizarro signing is a good things,
    he brings experience to our young strikers.
    Furthermore the loan conditions are very good.
    Applause for mananger Allofs for good negotations. :)

    Good point.

    If we have the opportunity we should sign a
    class defensive midfielder and if a full back leaves
    a class full back.

    But this will propably not happen this transfer period. :(

    Thanks.:)

    Pizarro is probably going to be a starter but the question is alongside who?
