Just a few days to get your roster in order. I know a few of us migrated to EPL from MLS. Cough, Cough, Top Shelf... and some of us were part of a MLFS draft league, way back with a Google whiz in charge of that and FC Epikoinis was a ringer. Putting this on a proper thread. For MLS Fantasy - we have a league open started by Stormin Gunners "Three from All-Rocks have joined MLS All-Rockstars, any others want to join? I set the league at 8 teams so would be good to have at least half from All-Rocks. League code is 3LFF77NF"
Can one of you smart MLS people confirm this crazy switcheroo thing for me? So, I picked up three 4.0s and put them on my bench. But, lo and behold, two of them played and scored 7 and 6 points each! So, is the deal now that I need to decide if I'm happy with the 7 and 6 points performances, and if I am, then I should transfer out someone who was going to play and replace him with someone who is certain not to play a minute? Then, when that person doesn't play, the "switcheroo" kicks in and I get those points on the bench? I have to say that this feels dirty. I'm used to the EPL game where rosters and lineups are locked once the games start. The notion of making changes in order to move in or keep out certain scores feels wrong. PS - I tried the "keeperoo" also, but the keeper on my bench just got 3 points, so I'll go ahead and try to play someone who will beat that.
Sorry that I did not get to this earlier. I was in Death Valley on opening MLS weekend. Death Valley was great. MLS Fantasy, a series of disasters... The switcheroo is you put a bench player with an early game. If they do well, then make one of you on field player be one that does not play. Autosub puts in the highest scorer in from your bench. So your bench players are either early game players, high ceiling and low floor players or super cheap players who if they do well raise in value. Same idea on the keeperoo. So for Friday, I have the KC keeper on the bench. If he does well, I keep his score. Chicarito, who I have no faith would be on the bench to see if he outscores another bench player. Cheers and good luck!
With the FMLS playoffs wrapping up this past weekend, I get to claim my first MLS title with a 111-90 victory in the finals. So, the "MLS All-Rockstars" league FMLS trophy goes to a Rocks owner/team, as the did the unofficial "MLS All-Rockstars" Supporters' Shield for best record in the regular season, with Tarv finishing first and my little dawgs finishing second. I never knew who all Norm invited to be in this league, but knew that I was always chasing Tarv's squad from day one. The playoff format required a near-perfect finish, and while it caught up with Tarv in the semis, Tarv's overall score saw him place an extraordinary 67 out of over 16,000 in the overall standings!!! Seriously, that is top 0.5%!!! (I only managed to get into the top 3% at #445). It's an interesting (and very different) format. It certainly took a few weeks to get things sorted, and I certainly benefited from being hot at the end when it shifted to the playoff format. It also meant paying more attention to the entirety of MLS over the course of the season and not just my team, particularly on game days.
Wow, I had sort of forgotten about that ... SFA (Soccer Fantasy of the Americas). Now digging through my old files.
Soccer Fantasy of the Americas, est. 2009 IIRC, the guy who came up with the idea and the custom scoring system was going to set it up so the scoring would be automated, but he had a major family situation develop the weekend of the draft. But we went forward with it anyway, scoring it manually through 2014 - then it looks like we moved it to the MLS Fantasy Game. We had a coach on the roster and in the lineup scoring points each week. And reserve rosters - you could speculate and pick anyone you wanted ... So Diego Forlan was on someone's reserve squad even though he never played in MLS. 2009 owners FIRST DIVISION Catrachos In Off The Post FC Epikoinos Goal-den Ladanday Rovers Rocket City FC Top Shelf SECOND DIVISION Aviators Island City Los Hobos FC Phoenix TS Sasha Jrs Stonebury United Viper FC Ah, good memories!
I see that Norm's league head to head league is already closed. I made league Rocks Papers Scissors open league: League Code: JHE2JR9S
I'm in the Rocks Papers Scissors Open League. Just read the rules and found out we have unlimited transfers every week. Can't see how much "In the Bank" funds available for each team. Anyone know where to find that? Through GW2, these are the values of the players for the League's teams: All teams had max player valuations for their teams capped at 100 for GW1. 108.2 Aviators, currently 3rd, sharing that I also have .3 in the bank. 106.4 Sasha Juniors, currently 2nd 106.2 Las Pupitos, currently 5th 105.4 Top Shelf, Currently 1st 105.3 Di's Diamond Club, currently 6th 105 0 Fuchsaka Franco, currently 7th 103.7 Dave's Daredevils, currently 8th 102.5 Game of Ohhhs, currently 4th Given that we have unlimited transfers, it seems like managers can build their team value in the early weeks as this year's fantasy soccer stars make themselves known. It's my assumption, and I'd like to hear the opinion of those who played the MFLS game recently, that if one builds the value of their team quickly, they'll be able to have more of the higher priced high fantasy scoring players on their teams.
You cant see other team's values. Calculating it as you have done to get the minimum is the best you can do, if it is of interest to you, and as you note everyone's value could be higher if there are funds in the bank. And there might be, especially if someone decided to have a non-scoribg field player in order to get a bench player's points. I'd say that 106 is currently a very decent number to currently be at if you are looking for context. Value is important, but keep in mind that there is a more direct correlation between future performance and price fluctuations. In FPL, it is tied to transfers in and out (which connects to past performance and isnt a bad predictor for future performance), but if everyone brings in 'x" in MLS and he flops the next game then everyone may be losing value. So ultimately picking players who may increase in value is not much different than picking players who may score well. This is different from FPL because of his price changes occur. IYou definitely want to have higher value and it will give lots more flexibility in selection as the season goes on. But it will or wont happen if you are or Rent making good picks. Indeed, it is really more of a double whammy if you make bad picks, as not only do you not score well in a given week but it becomes increasingly hard to recover if you begin to fall behind on value.... I was talking with a friend last year about picks and we were several points different in value and it forced very different decisions to be made. Of course, sometimes the lower values guys came through.....
Post GW3 Financial Report for "Rocks, Paper, & Scissors" MFLS League.(Does not reflect cash in the bank) 1st Sasha Juniors, 107.5, up 1.1 2nd Top Shelf, 106.4, up 1.0 3rd Game of Ohhhs, 107.6, up 5.1 4th Aviators, 111.3, up 3.1 (FYI, have 0.3 in the bank) 5th Los Pupitos, 109.4, up 3.2 6th Di's Diamond Club, 108.0, up 2.7 7th dave's daredevils, 102.4, down 1.3 8th Fuchsake Franco, 105.7, up 0.7
Good job on value Hal! - I went for Taty and Maxi Morales among others that dropped .5 That 4 million buys you an extra scrub!
I tried to do the Rolling Lockout by putting a Cincinnati forward on the bench with the intent of subbing him if if he scored well. Vazquez did his part scoring 18 points, but I couldn't figure out how to sub him in for a player that didn't play until Sun. Oh experienced ones, can you explain how this rolling lockout works?
As long as you have a "starter" who doesn't play any minutes, then the highest scorer on your bench will automatically come in. It looks like you still have one spot that hasn't played. And still have the LAFC-Vancouver game tonight. If you want to guarantee that you get Vazquez's points to come in off your bench, you need to be sure to put someone in that spot who is not only not starting in this last game, but who isn't even on the team's bench if possible. If you have 6.5, you could put in M.Kim of LAFC, as he's left the team and guaranteed he won't play. If you don't have that kind of cash, Duenas, Leone, and Traore of LAFC are decent 4.0 bets not to play and none of them have played any minutes yet this season. Any of them "should" work, but, if you're being extra careful, check for when the rosters are released on Twitter or Instagram (hopefully at least 30 minutes before game time), and make sure that whomever you choose isn't even part of the 18. (Looks like there are Vancouver options too, but I'm not as familiar with them).
LAFCs Duenas D 4.0 is confirmed out. Put him in your starting lineup, and then you'll get the autosub.
I think I'm starting to grasp. If the game hasn't started yet, we can still transfer in a player even after the opening game of the week. Do I have that right?
Yes, it is a "rolling" lock. Players lock at the stated time that their game is supposed to start. And, you can change any player who isn't yet locked for any other player who hasn't yet locked.
With just 2 weeks to go in the Rocks Papers Scissors league in FMLS, it is a competitive top 4 but Tarv appears to have a commanding lead: Sasha Juniors -- 2877 Top Shelf --------- 2790 Game of Ohhhs -- 2766 Los Pupitos ------- 2757 Aviators ------------ 2131 daves daredevils -- 1932 Di's Diamond Club -- 1904 Fuchsake Franco ---- 1644 If only Tarv would take off a week, we might have a chance to catch him. As it is, he has basically lapped the field at this point. And, in Norm's MLS All-Rockstars, using the head-to-head format, we into the playoff rounds. After goofing around during the regular season, 8th place Stormin Union and 7th place Jasymons 11 put up the 3rd and 4th highest scores to make things very interesting in the quarterfinals. They both ended up outscored by the 1 and 2 seeds when the last games were played but it kept things quite interesting and they both would have beaten 3, 4, 5, and 6 had they been in a different matchup. The playoffs now roll to the semis: 1 - Sasha Juniors vs 4 - Suzzers Boozers 2 - Los Pupitos vs 3 - ALTFC Everyone recognizes the dominant Sasha Juniors squad (as well as the other top teams in Rocks Papers Scissors) and Los Pupitos are the dawgs' lower division squad. @Norm Coyle -- do you know who ALTFC and Suzzers Boozers are, and are they on BigSoccer?
I don’t know if they’re on big soccer, I opened the league to public to make sure there was enough people to fill the league so they might just be fans that are just logged onto the MLS Fantasy website
and if one of you wind up winning the whole thing I might have to place a call to my six-year-old son to make a trophy with your name on it, no pressure
Right now he’s busy overseas designing the next World Cup trophy for this years finals, but I’ll see if he can do it
And I think I’ll keep it public next year too, interesting to see how we stack up against non-all rocks managers. But hopefully we win most (or all) of them, it will be more satisfying to engrave an all-rocks team every season
Also the trophy will already have Sasha Juniors listed from last season as well as the upcoming champion
Close contests going into the weekend to see who gets to the MLS All-Rockstars final, with two All-Rocks teams and two non All-Rocks teams left standing. Good luck to Sasha Juniors and Los Pupitos in their matchups and hoping for an All-Rocks matchup for the title! The trophy will be crafted by my son this weekend and engraved with the winners name soon! 2021 Champion: Sasha Juniors 2022 Champion: ?
ummm, my recollection is that Sasha Juniors rocked it during the regular season finishing top of the table by a large margin (as they did again this year), but Tarv got beaten in the semis once we went to the playoffs and Los Pupitos won the 2021 final by 111-90.... (see post #4 above from last year). So, good news for your son, as fewer letters in Los Pupitos as for this weeks semis, I'm in an early hole as I captained Acosta and ran up against captain Brenner, with edge to Brenner in the game of the Cincy double gameweek (and with Acosta denied the assist for some reason on Brenner's goal). hopefully the scoring gets reversed between them in today's game and Acosta can at least end up even with Brenner..... it's always interesting at this stage of the season with the unlimited changes each week to see how many players each team ends up with that are not duplicated on the other team's roster.
