Safe bet that Forza's not coming back either. Mysterious message suggested as much at the end of last season and I'd be surprised to hear from him on this thread. I'd love to be proven wrong but I think we're best off to assume he's gone. Hal said he has one in reserve -- I'm sure Cannon & Nocturnal United are coming back and with Hal having one person in reserve already, that would mean we only need to find 2 managers for Sand. Any guesses about Gunners 320? Anyone else have leads? I can't think of anyone who would be motivated to be in this league but maybe we should place a recruting post in a few good forums (Arsenal America etc.) so we can get a list of volunteers now rather than at the last second. I'd leave that call to Hal since they'd eventually have to correspond with him anyway. The other unresolved question (with plenty of time still to resolve it) is the date of the draft. I'm away from home until Aug 7 and I'd struggle to do a draft before then.

I hesitated to post after Lobo's instant classic... but, I saw where FantasyPremierleague.com will open their site for the next EPL season on JULY 6th. 5 Days and counting till next season starts! Are we ready? Time is ripe to start recruiting. From my previous post, it looks like we'll have 3-4 openings for new managers. Before I open up a recruiting thread, I thought the existing managers might check their networks and see if anyone can recruit someone who has his endorsement and is more likely to stay the course. The quicker we establish the composition of the three draft leagues, then individual leagues can arrange for their drafts.
5 Days until Fantasy.Premierleague.com opens their 2007/2008 EPL fantasy soccer season! It's time to establish the league administrators for the three divisions, start serious recruiting for the 3-4 new managers we have openings for, identify who will run the drafts for each of the three leagues, and work out the draft schedules. As I posted in the ITC thread, let's give current managers a week to recommend/refer/recruit new managers before we create an open invitation thread. Job Openings: League Administrator: Duties: 1) Create the private league 2) Notify the other league members of the password to join the league 3) Moderate the league forums 4) Help the new managers understand the various processes we've established to run this competition. League Draft Administrator: 1) Coordinate the time and schedule for this year's draft. 2) Conduct the draft and deal will all the challenges of vacations, work, different time zones etc. 3) Establish the draft order. In this off-season, a standard approach has been offered and seems to have consensus of the posters so far. 4) There were some suggestions that somewhat randomly varied the order of the various draft rounds, but the consensus of the responding posts was to continue with the snake method. Tournament Directors: We've established several types of internal, inter- and intra-league Cup Competitions and have been blest with creative managers who have run these. Volunteers are welcome to offer to run any of the established competitions or suggest a new type of competition. Webmasters: Again, we've been blest with the various managers who have created websites that are used to: 1) Keep track of the current squads to help managers avoid trading for a player already on another team; 2) Lay out the rules, brackets, and display results of our competitions; and 3) Serve as blog reporting space over and above what we do in the BigSoccer Season Threads for each of the three Rocks Leagues. Overall Rules Committee? Up to now, we've evolved rules and established precedence on how we handle lots of situations, and it's based on our collective experience and recollections. At the end of each season, we collect new ideas for ways/rules to improve our draft league experience through a thread where we discuss proposed changes. In the past we've started various threads to try to explain the rules. Should we formalize it in a committee that keeps and promulgates the rules and arbitrates how to handle new unique situations? Of is our informal method working of having various senior members weigh in and help explain rules and processes and resolve situations as they arise? Volunteers for some of these functions?

Is Forza Moskva the BigSoccer.com nickname of Ilya Polyhchuk, manager of ФК Илья? If you know where it is, can someone copy his alleged mysterious post that may imply he is not returning? If convincing enough, we'll go ahead and release his spot.
I'm on record as stating that if a promotion spot to small rocks became available, it should have been given to the winner of the rocking league cup. To me, it is a bigger accomplishment to win a cup that included all 30 teams than to come in third in the third league. I think that Gunners320 should be given the promotion spot.
I could agree with the sentiment that it deserves consideration for a promotion spot - but I would mean that quite literally. As in: going up a single division. I would not agree that any cup competition win would have a team going up two divisions - that just takes too much away from league placement, which is, afterall, the foundation we build the cup competitions around.
I think that is unfair to class acts because we were all told before the season started that if someone from the upper leauges dropped out after the season the next placed leauge team would then be promoted to then change that after the entire season is over just isn't fair at all. Also is it right to punish a team who did better the entire season then to reward one who went on a run at the end of a season? Just thinking outloud.
Here's Hal's requested post from Forza Moskva, aka Ilya. It was posted after I wrote my (now ironic) farewell post and can be found on the last page of the continued VSR thread from last year. I feel the same way amigo Nobody knew exactly what it meant but the timing of it made his comment seem like a declaration that he's gone. He was waffling even before last season anyway. I recognize Tangerine Army as a former participant; did he take over for a team? Or is he a manager who's already committed to participate for a season and not carried through? I honestly can't remember either way. I'm happy to volunteer as league admin for the Sand league, although I can't do a whole lot beyond setting up the league and sending out passwords until I'm back home. Considering that the league starts on Aug 11, that means I'll be struggling to draft at all and can't offer to run it this year. Not sure how to deliver league passwords to those who haven't turned in emails yet, but I guess BS private messages would always work. With the other leagues looking like they're set to go, I ask again what we'll do if we get into early August with many slots remaining empty in Sand. What if, for example, SR & VSR are full, but Sand is still missing several managers? Do we go with a smaller Sand league, even though it means we'd have stronger teams? Or reconfigure with 2 larger leagues? These are questions I think we need to answer now rather than later. The introduction of relegation & promotion means that everyone's responsible for all 3 leagues being viable, so please do help fill out Sand if you can. I'm posting advertisements in the Arsenal & PSG forums but of course I won't be able to vouch for any statements of interest I get. But one way or another, those of us in Sand who have committed for another year will participate, right? I get the heebie jeebies when managers keep getting bumped up and Sand ends up with fewer and fewer active returners...
