I meant to say the 6 players in todays scrimmage. I actually haven't been to the HDC this year. Anyone know what's up with Jose Diaz or Paul Islas and Joe Franco?

Chivas USA announced Tuesday evening that they have acquired Mexican center back Joaquín Velázquez and Peruvian left back Walter Vílchez. Velázquez comes to the Red-and-White on loan from Chivas Guadalajara while Vílchez was acquired by the Rojiblancos via special discovery. The new acquisitions are still pending approval of the players' international transfer certificates (ITCs). Per league and club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Velázquez, 37, comes to Chivas USA having once played for new head coach José Luis Sánchez Solá in Mexico’s First Division. As a part of Puebla, Sánchez Solá and Velázquez formed part of the team that helped take Los Camoteros to the top flight in 2007. The Veracruz-born defender made his pro debut in 1995 with Puebla and also had stints with Santos Laguna, Lobos BUAP and Veracruz.
Vílchez, 31, has earned 64 caps for Peru’s national team, recording one goal for his country. An experienced player in Peru’s top flight, Vílchez is a five-time champion – three times with Alianza Lima and twice with his most recent club Sporting Cristal. The left back also spent time in Mexico, first with Cruz Azul and then Puebla under Sánchez Solá. Vílchez made his professional debut in 2000 with Deportivo Wanka.

Chivas USA have been feverishly filling out their roster in the past week, making it official with several of their preseason trialists. On Wednesday, they made it seven in the last five days, announcing the signing of two more young Mexican-Americans in midfielders Josue Soto and Emilio Orozco.
Soto, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and Orozco, a Southern California product, join the Red-and-White via discovery. Per league and club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Soto, 24, who was originally signed by the Houston Dynamo as a Homegrown player and played his collegiate career at Campbell and Southern Methodist University, earning Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year honors. He has also played for PDL side Carolina Dynamo and, most recently for the NASL's San Antonio Scorpions on loan from the Dynamo.
Born in Oxnard, Calif., Orozco was a member of the US Under-17 and Under-20 national teams. The 20-year-old midfielder spent time with Tigres UANL of Mexico’s First Division and with NASL side Fort Lauderdale Strikers last season. Orozco has also participated in the IMG soccer academy, located in Bradenton, Fla.

hasn't Jose Manuel Rivera been scoring? The more I see this team unfolding the more I'm growing to love them. Como dijo el Chelis "Es un equipo de hombres, no de nombres" por alguna razon se lo prefiera asi. No estoy completamente de acuerdo pero en chelis we trust.

(like chelis said "we're a team of men, not names". for some reason he prefers it like that. I'm not completely in agreement but in chelis we trust)
This team is growing on me. They are doing what they said they were going to do and I'm loving it. Would love for us to pick up those supplemental draft picks and let them develop just in case they are diamonds in the rough. I'd hate to see them go down to Xolos and get playing time when we could have had them

CARSON, Calif. – Not long after Chivas USA formally introduced José Luis Sánchez Solá as their new manager on Friday during a media event at Home Depot Center, the fiery coach continued his blunt approach to things, dropping the surprise admission that he doesn’t intend to spend considerable time in the United States.
“I don’t see myself living here two years,” Sánchez Solá told reporters. “The people are what’s important to the institution. The foundation of the organization is what’s important.”
Sánchez Solá downplayed his significance to the club, likening himself to the “head of a needle.” He acknowledged he’s in Los Angeles to create excitement and nothing else.
“I would rather lose 5-4 or 5-2 than to win 1-0,” he said. “I want fans to be happy and entertained.”

“El Chelís” said he misses his home state of Puebla the most.
“I may look like a young guy but, no, I’m a very old guy,” said Sánchez Solá, who turned 54 in January. “I miss my home, my family, my friends, my seat, my TV and the ocean. ... Sometimes [Puebla] is not a nice town. Sometimes the people don’t look at me good, but it is my home.”
The club unveiled a new away kit and introduced players, coaches and staff members ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Columbus (10:30 pm ET, watch LIVE online). President Jose David and sporting director Dennis te Kloese were also on hand.
“Chelís brings a lot of things on and off the field,” te Kloese told MLSsoccer.com. “For starters, he will make a lot of noise for the franchise. Second of all, he has a good knowledge of what goes on in Mexico and he’ll acquire the knowledge to be successful in MLS hopefully as soon as possible. For him and as well for us, it’s a very good situation.”
