Even if Cahill leaves? That would leave us with Rudiger, Luiz (if he re-signs), Christensen and only Azpilicueta for cover. I like Ampadu in midfield more, but he could play in defense.

Agree about Zouma. He's a liability with flashes of decent play.

I don’t think we see the turnover many want to start the year but I suspect Reece will be able to take the RB role by end of year. Mount I hope can take the back up CAM role from Barkley. Tammy is wild card. Higuin won’t be back unless the shit hits the fan or he scores big to close out the year.

I’m operating on the assumption Hazard is gone. Cho will be out to start the year. That means we’re going to be very very thin in wide areas. Could mean we see RLC get some burn there over the CM out of necessity.

Ugh, RLC on the wing sounds really horrible. Willian, Pedro, Pulisic are our three guys if CHO is still out/recovering (and Hazard is gone).

Ok, so this was a Lampard-esque goal, right down to the run and everything.

It’s been reported that he will be given a chance in preseason. No surprise there. Especially with RLCs injury and the fact that we still haven’t done anything about the ban. I firmly believe he will be able to beat out Barkley for a legit role in the the side by end of season.

I wouldn’t call it that. I call it a a kid born in Canada to Nigerian parents that moved to England at 8.

Sooo, Armando Broja scores a hat trick in the FA Youth Cup.

I'm quite excited about the academy with Tammy, Tomori, Mount, CHO, and James making the squad.

Conor Gallagher leaving Charlton to join Swansea on loan.

If you're asking why, it's likely because of Steve Cooper - he has overseen the academy at Liverpool and worked with the FA U-whatevers. Guehi, Rhian Brewster and now Gallagher.

Swansea are also 4 points from challenging for playoffs whilst Charlton are in 19th.

FA Youth Cup vs Millwall is live on the app right now.

Heavy police presence at the Bridge too. Should be a scrappy match.

Athletic article on Tomori, key points on Chelsea aspect:

    - Lampard got frustrated with his level of training and yanked him after a poor performance despite the team in general performing poorly.

    - Neither he nor Lampard communicated to each other about resolving the issue.

    - Maldini basically convinced him to come to Milan. I mean, it's Maldini.

Imagine if Tuchel came in a few days prior. Tomori before he got dropped was one of our best defenders. I know Silva has been great, but he's 36 and Rudiger is late 20s. We lose Tomori, it could bite us in the ass.

Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori - what a name :)

I do wonder about the truth of some of The athletic articles. That said, Tomori was my fave of all our young and promising players. He is a fast CB who is comfortable on the ball. What club doesn't need that type of player in the modern game? No surprise that Maldini would recognise his value.

Where did it go wrong? Fik was POY at Derby under Lampard. He had shown so much promise he got a call up into the England Squad. I just cannot understand why we would ever let him leave. He joined Chelsea FC at the under-8 level. That kind of loyalty is surely valuable.

I havent seen him play for Milan. Has been good?

This whole “Lampard didn’t bother communicating with the players he dropped” thing is utterly loony.

Think he would enjoy playing as left wing back in our new system. I always root for those young players who dont make the grade here but work hard and push on in their careers. Until they get too good and make us want to vomit out of regret of course :D

Hard to imagine we picked him up in 2015!
