Hey, they got this much done in one year. I think they can manage the rest by June.

There is a lot left to do -- when we were there they were stringing network cable, prepping the field itself with irrigation, dry walling and finishing, there was a ton to do. But the suites are basically there - lots of room just need the furnishings and electrical fixtures. I am sure things are nicely on schedule ... they are painting walls on the interior already ... we don't get to see much of that from the webcam, and I am not really interested in it so I don't really take pictures of it all - all I really wanna see is the seats going in and the grass :) ... once those things start happening things will look a lot more complete ...

I am not a construction guy, but I don't see how this is going to be possible. They are going to have to pick up the pace a lot. They moved real quick at the beginning, but they have slowed way down.

They don't even have the roof completed or any seats in place.

I don't see it happening, but what do i know. I hope I am wrong.

They've been working on the interior while the weather was bad over the winter.

Last I heard, construction was a couple of days ahead of schedule.

Construction progress may appear slow, but what is left is not as time consuming as all of the structural work. The things left to do are not nearly as time consuming as the basic structure. It will be done (because it has to be). If needed they can work overtime.

If you know his posting history in regards to KC, he should have hit the back button before even posting that.

I love the whole, "I'm not AN EXPERT, but here's my bullshit, out of left-field observation."

Annoys the hell out of me.

You're right, you're not a construction guy. But, I am.

They will finish on time. If they have to work multiple shifts to finish on time, they will. Unless something catastrophic happens weatherwise, they will finish on time.

Not having the stadium ready for opening day would be a huge black-eye for Turner Construction. They won't let that happen.

Considering they did that most of the season when the weather was nice I wouldn't be surprised if A) they're doing that still now or B) continue it again when the weather gets nicer.

Have you ever watched something get built? Progression seems fast at first because big, noticeable things are happening but towards the end it is smaller things that are less noticeable. Do you really think they have come this far just to miss their mark and not only have to reschedule their opener but force CONCACAF to move a Gold Cup doubleheader?

The seats will probably be one of the last things to go in because they will cause obstruction for the workers. I could see the seats being put in over a few days time.

Even if there is some type of delay, they will finish enough to host the games and work between games.

Plus, there is probably a nice little bonus for not only finishing on time but finishing early that they would like to receive.

There are often "Liquidated Damages" for missing the completion date. Depending on the type of project it can be a significant number.

I have watched every one of the MLS stadiums construction very closely. So I am very familiar with the concept of seeing more progress early on. I still think there is a looooooong way to go on the Sporting stadium. I hope they are finished on time, but I think it will be a great accomplishment if they are.

I am very happy for KC to finally get a new home, so this has nothing to do with my past posts about KC. My past posts were when KC was averaging 5-8k a game.

I didn't realize I was the only one on here that isn't a construction expert posting about stadium construction. Please post a note on the thread that only construction experts are allowed to post.

I love getting neg rep for daring to post a simple post about the construction looking like it has a long way to go. Sorry I dared. There was no malice in my post. You guys need to let things go.

You're basing your perception on pictures and pictures alone. As you can see, no one else including people that work for the team are worried and the construction is actually ahead of schedule. So, you're wrong in saying that it will be a great accomplishment to finish on time. It will actually be a huge blow to the construction company to not complete it on time when they are ahead at this point.
