Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) There is not enough room on the immediate site for much parking, true. However, there is plenty of space in the vicinity for nearby lots, plus existing lots. That NFM location is one of the highest-grossing retail spots in the country, and they are more than happy for us to use the front of that lot currently for satellite. They just don't use the front half very often, and never at night. Why would they want a big stadium to bring thousands of people to their doorstep? Hmm...
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Because they want to try to convince people to watch the game on the TVs in their home theater department instead of going to the game? Because they are hoping to scavenge all the tailgate food that people don't eat before they leave for the game? Something to do with taxes? Don't you get a bigger write-off for stolen merchandise if the thief is a soccer hooligan? They want to create obscure parking rules that allow them to toe the vehicles at the owner's expense and then get a kick-back from the tow truck operators? They've been waiting for someone to move across the street so they can try out their secret catapult? They ran over a stadium's mother/child/spouse/etc. and fled the scene and now a deep feeling of guilt spurs them to help all stadiums in need (by providing them someplace to stay and a place to park)?
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Until MetroSports invests in some actual HD cameras, and tosses the crap they have now into a bottomless pit, I'd say the potential return on that strategy is zero.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) So, Sam, since you chimed in .....will STH get priority parking near the stadium similar to the CAB situation? I just hope that whoever is hired to handle the traffic in and around the parking lots does a much better job than the people who handle it at CAB now. Hopefully a small piece of change for permanent road signage regarding parking access is already included in the project's budget.....
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Yes, certainly. Yes. It's all a part of the plan submitted for planning approval to the UG.

Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Are the big yellow machines doing any work this week? I want to see dirt moving! Can't wait to visit in 2 years!
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Kinda hard to move dirt when there is 8 inches of snow on top of it.....
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) NAH...Give me the keys to one of the dozers and I will get rid of the snow real quick and might even scrap off some dirt afterwards to help 'em out!!!
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) With how windy it was I'm sure at least a portion of the site is clear now to do some work.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Ground is too cold. Can't dig yet. Gonna need a few days of non-freezing temps before they can start.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Considering there isn't an above freezing temp forecasted in the next ten days, I would say we need to prepare for the world to fall apart....or hell and everything else to freeze over and remain frozen..... Figures we had a mild winter last year and this year's has come in like a pissed off lion when we have something worthwhile that we need to get rolling. (it's Katie Horner's fault)
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) don't worry, the horner will help you get through this: http://www.katiehorner.com/brainstorming.html
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) If this book helped my dog get through thunderstorms without climbing and pacing and drooling, I would gladly quit blaming her. Actually, I think watching Horner for hours on end during thunderstorm coverage is part of the reason my dog gets so frickin' nervous.....
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) I didn't understand a word you said. Your avatar is... distracting
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Stadium deal came in at #3 on Wyandotte County's Top 10 stories of 2009 in the Kansas City Kansan.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) I don't buy this as any sort of (real) excuse. The ground can't be frozen more than a couple of inches deep at most; and for what those earth movers do that ain't sh!t. They could easily be moving temporary electrical in and installing site trailers if the were serious about getting underway - right away.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) It's actually really hard to dig in sub-freezing temperatures even with earth movers. It's probably frozen at least a foot deep.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) I've never worked construction but a lot of construction shuts down in this kind of weather. I know all of my friends that work in construction have had the last week off even though they needed to work so they could get paid. It is just not possible for them to do what they need to do with all this snow and the frozen ground.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Something else to consider is that even if they are able to work, they would probably only be able to accomplish a fraction of what could be done under better conditions. When you take into consideration that those workers get paid the same hourly wage regardless, it probably does not make sense to pay them a full hourly wage to accomplish a fraction of the work.
