You're either saying Brazil is in the same place in football as Liberia or that Vinicius counts as one of the best players in the history of the country. Something I disagree in both ways so let's just leave it at that. Theres plenty of fantastic Brazilian players that never meant much for their national team, Marcelo and Dani Alves being examples. That's part of their journey and they can't change it.
Yeah I mean this is the team that was the equivalent to the dream team in basketball, we used to set the alarm to get up with our parents to watch Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos etc. It's just hard to see this same shirt now and pretend like it's anywhere near that. It's just crazy to me to sort of see Vini named alongside George Best. Arguably the best player in the history of a country compared to a player that's not even the best in the postal code of his residence.
I'm not sure what's the argument here. Vini is an awesome player. Very talented - Fact. He played with an average Brazilian NT - Fact. That NT also had a very nonchalant coach who is known to be a player "whisperer" - Fact. Vini scored goals and had assists and show brilliance moments - Fact. In the most important game, as the star of the team and the most talented (by far), he didn't do enough and didn't show up - Fact. In the end of the day, for me, I can't not compare Brazil and Vini to Norway and Haaland. You can't tell me Norway is more talented overall. They are not. But Haaland, knew that on any chance he will get in the Mexico game he will need to score or else this team won't have a chance to win. and he did. You compare that to Vini not taking the penalty and disappear for large portion of the game.
The teams on the field are very evenly matched. Don't let the shirts fool you. Brazil probably missing some talent due to injury, but what was there wasn't levels above.
Oh boy! Here we go again. Not taking the penalty "Disappear". Bro, Haaland is virtually invisible until the moment he launches a deadly strike out of nowhere. Just like how at times you can feel vini is invisible yet he literally put the golden chance on a platter for Bobby to finish. Wonder if people even watch the game?
and what do you prefer? Vini getting the bal many times, doing useless dribless and giving a bad pass or a striker that needs two touches for two goals?
I prefer Endrick finishes that 1 v 1 vini created so you don't come whining here about how useless vini is while making a case for Haaland
Norway is getting a lot love but the truth is that Brazil Bottled it Missed pk, missed one on one Vini had a good game but the team failed to capitalize which is crazy because we don’t think fo Brazil as pecho but they joined Colombia in that category
we should let Vinijr leave—hopefully for some money—and he is incompatible with Mbappe, and Mbappe cannot leave; it is better to let Vinijr leave
Maybe, but football is also about being the help for others that you wish to receive from them. Ronaldo was the last "give me the ball and shut up" player worth the effort.
🚨💣 Vini Jr and Real Madrid have AGREED a RENEWAL deal MUST BE REACHED. There is now FULL optimism he will renew.Final meeting set for July end. @jfelixdiaz pic.twitter.com/LRXxzQCUen— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 11, 2026
So Mourinho probably telling the old man you've got to give this guy whatever he wants, what he does on the field cannot be bought or paid for. Literal expectations to single handedly carry an entire team to a world cup or failure, what other player lives witht those expectations? Not Mbappe on a star studded FIFA backed France. Maybe Halaand, but he's plays for City. Perhaps Messi but are we really at the point of already comparing Vini to the Messi. Just pay him.
I wouldn't pay him. Keep him on same salary. He's the 3rs most talented player in the team. Not to mention that him and mbappe is just not working and if mbappe comes back with the WC Vinnie's ego won't be able to sustain it.
the club doesnt want to sign a Kroos/Modric replacements 3 years after they left ...do you think they are going to sign a Vinni replacement....no they will pay him, extend few other underperforming players and hope for a miracle the club has lost the plot
🚨⏳In the negotiations with Vini Jr. over a new long-term contract, an agreement in principle is in place. Final details still need to be sorted out. What is clear: Kylian Mbappé will remain the top earner in the squad of Real Madrid.@SkySportDE 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/lludl1YdE4— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 23, 2026 finally. Was never a doubt but still good to put this behind us.
Plettenberg doesn't know shit about whatever happens 450 feet away from his house in Germany, I have no idea where he's supposed to get info about Vinicius from.
They were pretty much given free reign to figure it out for 2 years. It didn't happen and it won't happen. Unless a coach manages to come in that can get these two to do something differently, I don't expect to see the situation up front changing much. Maybe Mou is the guy, who knows.
I predicted he’d run his contract down and am very happy to have been wrong. Vini is one of us, needs to swivel his head back on and lock in next season. He had a good WC, borderline great.
A few cule friends have been texting me with cheers since the tweet came out two days. Most people think it's a mistake. I don't, - but only if he understands his responsibility and role as support player mbappe under the control of Bellingham brains.
And it’s a problem that won’t go away unless Mbappe and/ or his ridiculous contract do. Jude and Vini’s performances in the World Cup only solidified the argument that Mbappe is a total surplus to requirements that is dragging the other players down. They can play together, they can play with others and are at their best when there’s a clear hierarchical structure but at Madrid it's become a team forced to play for one player instead of players playing within a team and the trade off is to make the least use out from of Vini and Judes their and look dull and predictable against prepared teams.
I don't think those 3 can solve their problems within themselves. We've tried it with 3 different managers already. I think the only way to make it work is through a more structured system, with the 3 being compliant and resisting their natural on field tendencies. Which is very difficult to do.
