Other descriptive rating systems such as Sofascore gave Vini an 8.0 (the highest rating in the match). While I agree with you to a certain extent, the article says he's the focal point and total focus of the team offensively then praises his total number of carries. That's a natural byproduct of the concept. I truly believe if the person wouldn't be as controversial, Vini would be universally appreciated. There's going to be a lot of Brazil hate watching going on which is very unusual considering that this team was the one team everybody in the sport liked. The German broadcast mentioned it right away, you either like his attitude or hate it depending on what team you support, but on both sides you have to realize That this is a really really good player and not just a headache/cheat.
I agree with what you are saying. He is a polarizing personality. My goal with posting that Sofascore link was simply to point out how flawed and misleading it is to rely on basic counting stats. While this dude is daftly cherry-picking counting data to try to discredit Vini, Sofascore used that exact same descriptive data source to award him a match-high rating of 8.0. These superficial counting metrics lack structural context and mean absolutely nothing. When evaluated through proper inferential modeling, quantifying Vini’s low-probability goal execution, threat creation, and off-the-ball defensive action, he was clearly revealed as the match's most impactful performer.
Everybody complains that the sport has become boring and there's not talented player anymore just runners and players that are like robots on the field. And then Vini gets made fun off for dribbling three players and trying to rainbow the ball past the fourth. I mean I get it, people dislike how he complains etc, but he's probably the only exciting player to watch right now and has been for quite a while. That's why I like him, plus I love his story how he came from Brazil at a young age, started playing with us on Ronaldo's position right after he left and managed to become world class.

You’re not serious about this. he had a massive goal and some nice touches, but Jude and especially mbappe have contributed to their teams way more than Vinny. he should learn from mbappe what is mean to be a leader of a team.
I don't think that is the issue with Vini. Repeatedly trying and failing is ok. It happens. It's just there are games that he repeatedly chooses the worst option it becomes a frustrating watch.
Yeah I don’t mind Vini being creative and electric. Actually, I’ll always say it, when he is on, he is number 1 player to watch for me (with Olise and Diaz) There are other aspects to criticize, but this isn’t one of them for me at least
One game played shouldn't lead to extreme statements in either direction. Vini, or any player for that matter, might score 3 in the next one, or get sent off.

Vini got his toughest game out of the way with a goal and a point. Safe to say he's on to the knockout rounds still in contention for all individual and team trophies. I'm looking forward to the France Norway game, really feel like someone's gonna get punched in the face and I don't think Tchoumeni is gonna be the one delivering the knockout punch this time around.
He doesnt have a problem with confidence. If anything its the opposite. Him becoming pichichi would be a disaster for us. Means we give him that insane contract, and his ego expands even further and he goes solo mode every time, while fighting with every fan and opponent out there that looks at him in a way that he deems not worthy of a WC pichichi winner.

I don't think anybody is sitting down to watch him at the world cup to make a decision on what he thinks about him. Just years and years on tape. You either like what you see or don't. Just don't think a collapse or triumph changes much.
