He's a football player. He was at the New York Knicks game last year and was introduced to Carmelo Anthony and Melo asked him who he is live on camera. Vini is not even close to Neymar in terms of stardom who was not even close to Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. We're talking different galaxies entirely. I would argue even Haaland is pretty faceless, Mbappé isn't on the super super star level either but the thing is that the shape of stardom changed. There are guys that don't do anything but stream computergames that are more famous than these players.
Vinícius Júnior is the first player to have 200+ touches in the opposition box in LaLiga this season. Nah! Fan however you want., just don’t dress up your personal dislike and pile ons as some holy “Madrid standard” expecting everyone to nod along...
Some people won't be able to understand this, their minds too overcome with haterism. But come World Cup time I won't be surprised if Vini's the big winner and half of Hollywood is calling him by name with LeBron and Luka Doncic (agent double 7) escorting him around LA.
I think the point that needs to be taken away from this is how a certain somebody doesn't even appear on the list, a certain person whose designated personal space by design and definition of the center forward position is the opposition box.
I have no basis for this but the push for the likes of Mbappe, Halaand and Vini rings hollow and comes across as fake because everyone subconsciously knows they aren't as good as the stars of the 2000s and 2010s. I see a lot of my students walking around with retro kits or if they're kits from recent seasons there isn't anyone on the back.
Hmmmm well this is interesting, i still think Vin has a ways to go to improve, but, not that long ago i was reading how much Franco added/was praised for all his many "touches" and " finding space" (not goals mind you), now another player with even MORE touches, who also finds space, unbalances the opposition and plays in the front three is being ridiculed? i don't........ gotta be about who fans like and dislike i suppose
He has more touches in the opposition box than ever but it's Xabi's fault he hadn't scored in LaLiga in 4 months.
Soaked up all the contact, forced panicked blocks, cutbacks, pens n rebounds , last passes so your other favourites can eat while you pretend the chef isn’t in the kitchen.
Most touches in the box while managing to score just 5 goals from open play in 22 LaLiga games highlights his severe ineptitude and limitation. He needs 34 touches in the box to score 1 goal. Incredible. If anything, those stats show that big chances land at his feet to die.
Show me a high usage winger who never loses it and I’ll show you a coward who only passes backwards. You don’t get into the box 200+ times jus by playing hot potato sideways.
No matter how you interpret the numbers he's not really the first option you'd pull out of an expansion draft where you would pick a player.
